True Blue on the Horizon

That wasn't a very good turn out by the True Who. I enjoyed the middle fingers also. I thought one of the greatest chants was when the True Who started chanting "USA! USA! USA!" and the Rowdies all shrugged their shoulders like "Ok, it's our country thanks for honoring it" and started chanting "USA! USA! USA!".
ROFL I think you've actually convinced yourself Buffalo is outside of the USA... that would explain why we also chanted "Get an atlas" Sure our numbers were low, it was a Wed. night after all, I wasn't all that impressed by the HOME students. Your core is pretty loud but overall I thought it was a weak showing for senior night at home.

Well, either my hearing must be worse than I thought, I haven't been in the right place at the right time to hear it, or I just haven't been paying attention. But I've never actually noticed people deliberately altering the national anthem at a sporting event until last night. Apparently it's not uncommon, along with some who don't stand, or who don't take their hats off, or who talk or text through it. I've seen all that, and I personally think it's all disrespectful. But I suppose you can write all that off to me just being a grumpy old man being overly sensitive about the increasing lack of civility in so many areas. If my dad had ever seen me doing anything like that, I'd have been bruised, bloodied and disowned.

Yea you are the one team in the MAC who I only actually hate the team, your fans are fine by me :D . Always been a classy bunch, I can say with confidence it's the only school in the conference that would send a member of the student section on to our bus with diplomacy in mind lol. The cowbell stayed home, I didn't want to bring it all the way to have it taken away at the door, it's been my experience that even though I don't break rules with the thing (noisemaker during gameplay) it's not usually easy to walk into an arena with the opposing team's colors on with a noisemaker in hand. You'll see it in cleveland!

We've sent 3 times that amount on a weeknight. But i understand you guys aren't quite as fanatic.

That was a True Blue Embarrassment. That's all the students you could gather for that trip? HAHA
I'm sorry that we weren't able to impress your contingent of bandies and "rowdies" that made up that little section along the baseline. Props on the huge cardboard signs though, and that red “X” that’s been around forever. They almost made us take you seriously.Come on. If anything, you have to admit that since you knew we were coming, you probably tried harder to get that turnout and make the noise.
Nah...you guys are probably the 5th best team in the conference so I dont think many people were drawn to the JAR for last night. By the way, in terms of taking you guys seriously, most people still dont.

And where was that trip to? Can't State? We had ~1000 students in attendance for your trip to Buffalo this year, I highly doubt you had 1000 there on wed. just saying

Because no one cares about small time buffalo coming to town. When we come to town, people come out to watch.BTW, we've sent that much to Buffalo before, Ohio, and Miami in the past.

I go to home games for the home team, if your fans come for the visitors that's fine :rolleyes:well I don't want to be regarded as a troll so i'm going to change my posting mode to constructive from now until cleveland
Funny how you're so sure you'll make it to Cleveland....but i wasnt talking about you, i was talking about your average fan. You said 1000 come out for your home game against us and 1000 did not for our home game against you. The reason being, your team is not a big opponent.

Ignore him True Blue, he fights with people who root for the same team he does. From reading all of his posts he is one of those guys that even though he is 100% wrong he will argue cause he believes in his own mind that he is 100% right!

Yeah, a lot of "basketball fans" that day were your football team and their fans who were there to support your new football coach. Did you also include the 3 refs in your 1000?...they seemed to be there with your students, too. :D BTW...just kidding. Your student support was impressive (edit: that is, at your place). I figured everyone showed up for that game just to get their free Roo shirts.

I'm not sure if this equates to a cold, hard, fact, but in the 25+ years I've been following Zip hoops the "meager" turnout by True Blue still represents the largest presence of opposing students (K.E.N.T. games excluded) that I have personally witnessed. I also think that if that game would have been closer, we would have heard a LOT more of the contingent that did make the trip.I understand that they're the "enemy" and should be treated as such. But don't we want to see more of this? Wouldn't this dry, forlorn conference suddenly become a whole lot more fun if the showing by True Blue on Wednesday became the norm? I say we should encourage these undertakings.

Dayton had a big, noisy group the last time they played at the JAR. But I can't say what percentage was students.EDIT: Just checked, and that Dayton game was Dec. 6, 2008. Attendance for that early season Saturday game was 4,059. Don't know how many UA students might have been around for either that one or the following Saturday at the JAR (Dec. 13) when the North Carolina A&T game drew only 2,626.

You're correct about the Dayton game. Quite a few of them were students, even if it wasn't the majority. I should have confined my statement to MAC foes.

I was there for the Dayton game. The Flyers were on the verge of a top-25 berth and had an incredible following. The NC A&T game was the day after the semester had ended, as in the last day of finals.
