zip37
What a performance! It reminded me of Earl 'The Pearl' Monroe who scored a ton against us in the mid 60s.David's last shot and the turnovers, I think, were a result of fatigue due to the in-your-face defense from all who guarded him. The last shot, David did not get good lift from his tired legs. Now, all you complainers about our SOS-- The Sweaters have a much higher SOS than us, where will they be this evening? Yes, but they stink. A good team that plays a higher SOS helps come tourney time. A bad team playing a higher SOS still makes them a bad team. Dr Z
Now, all you complainers about our SOS-- The Sweaters have a much higher SOS than us, where will they be this evening? Did you ever think that their SOS got them where they were, that they might have not got that far if they didn't play that schedule? Game is in his name----KOOL
Valpo Zip
One question in my mind. What did Steve Hawkins say to Kool 4 years ago? How can you get a kid like that to sign with a middle of the pack MAC team?Did he not get any offers from Butler, Dayton, or Big10 schools?what a great kid. I disagree when it comes to his being allowed by the officials to constantlyforearm shiver, hold opponents by their jerseys to the point he can turn the player, the little cheaprabbit punches he throws and worst of all almost never gets called on it by the officials.Shoot? You bet. A great shooter and not just open look set shots. Of course, it helps a lot if youropponent plays eight to ten feet off of your face. Still, he can flat out shoot the ball and probably is this year's best MAC player. Credit where credit is due. If Brett McKnight played like Kool, Brett would foul out in the first five minutes of the game.

akronzips71
This guy will be looked at by the NBA. All the stuff you are complaining about is exactly what a great player does and gets away with!If we had him on our team this year I suspect we would be looking at Sweet 16 or better. He just didn't have anyone backing him up.

Everybody but Western Michigan backed off him. Also, I talked to some scouts about Kool. They didn't seem too impressed.

A kid like Kool could help a lot of programs around this country. I'm sure there are a few teams with national title hopes right now that wish they had a kid like him coming off their bench as a sparkplug. He's been a darn good player his entire career. It isn't like this kid just blossomed this year.

Even Zeke came out to guard him (FOLLY!) and he shot right over him.
OZoner
Zeke forced Kool into two misses and no makes.I should note those were NBA scouts.

Everybody but Western Michigan backed off him. Also, I talked to some scouts about Kool. They didn't seem too impressed. The reason why the NBA scouts probably weren't too impressed is because those fussy scouts are going to compare his numbers in the MAC vs. what they would be in BCS conference schools. They will look at what other schools recruited him (Providence, Seton Hall, Dayton, Purdue). They probably just didn't see the talent NBA wise. He doesn't have the NBA body and NBA talent. Shooting accuracy from 3's and FT's only get so far in the NBA today. I would compare Kool to like a Dave Jamerson, all offense, always finds a way to get his shot off, deep outside shooting touch, automatic from the foul line. Dave in Green
Zeke forced Kool into two misses and no makes.I should note those were NBA scouts.I vividly recall Kool trying to lose Zeke and not being able to, stopping his dribble out around the free throw line, finding a way to worm himself around Zeke's long body and hitting a shot. I had to shake my head on that one because Zeke did everything you could ask of a 7-footer to stay with a nimble guard, and Kool still nailed the shot. Captain Kangaroo
The Zips don't need a player like Kool. He isn't athletic. We need players that are athletic. Not guys that can just flat-out play basketball. At least that's what I'm told.
