Not to take anything away from OU BUT:Last year the Zips were the #5 seed and won the tournament. In the NCAA, the Zips lead Gonzaga by 6 at half, still lead with 9:00 minutes left before The Zags went on a run and ended up winning by 13.This year OU was the #9 entering the MAC tournament. Because they had 2 guards that shot lights out for most of the tournament, they took down the number one seed and went to overtime to beat the Zips. Because they really do not have an inside game, they will probably be destroyed in the NCAA's.If you think the MAC has been looking bad in the eyes of the national sports media for the last 5 years, wait till this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But my point is , not rooting against them, but their lack of inside scoring will cost them big time. There will be guards in the NCAA that will shut them down. Another thing, we struggle against zone defense. We shot 36% tonight.

On the shooting % and inside game, bad calls and no calls can influence how you play. We try to go inside, but we get mugged and don't get the call, so we settle for jump shots which is a less % shot so our shooting % goes down. This is what I call MAC rocket science. ;)

lilroodude,O.K. now what about our inability to shoot over the Zone? How many times did our bigs come out to set some picks?? Not very many. We just passed the ball around the perimenter. Had we set more high screens, things would probably opened up inside.

And you're saying we had an inside game tonight? I can't wait unil middle to late next year when Zeke really give us a solid big man underneath. He seems to be filling out nicely.

Totally agree. I don't understand why it's so hard to break a zone. In 7th and 8th grade, we were taught to always cut to the basket off the ball, but Akron doesn't do that. We've always had trouble with a zone because were are not (the) 'A' word (you're welcome CK :thumb: ). We need to find a way to break a zone or we'll never be as good as we want to be.
