akronzips71 Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 So first of all, Congrats flushes. And second of all, go Bobcats. Now I know this is considered heresy on this board, but K-Ent was the best in the MAC this year. They beat us TWICE, had a better record and RPI, and earned the bid. Ohio should not have beat us, but they did. So at this point, lets see if the MAC can win some games on the national stage. It can only be good for the MAC and the Zips. And no sour grapes, they won it fair and square. Time to act like grownups. Quote

I hope Georgetown wipes the floor with those B****** from Ohio. and I don't think it could've been any more obvious we got SCREWED big time! even if we had Lebron James on our team the Tim Donaghys that run the MAC would have had Ohio win Quote

It makes the loss to them look like less of a fluke as well as gives the MAC some legitimacy. Quote

Nothing wrong with being bitter about a loss...VMD just has to understand that OU winning is good for the conference and therefore good for Zips. Don't we get a piece of that payout if they win a game in the tournament? Quote

They beat us TWICE, had a better record and RPI, and earned the bid. I respectfully disagree. They lost to Miami (14-18, 9-7), Bowling Green (14-16, 6-10), and Buffalo (18-12, 9-7), and then got embarrassed by OU in front of a crowd of mostly Can't State fans. They were a terrible MATCHUP for Akron. The best team in the conference does not lose in the Quarterfinals by 17. Quote

Don't we get a piece of that payout if they win a game in the tournament? To play devil's advocate... Ohio winning helps them in recruiting. Better recruiting = better teams. Better teams = tougher for Akron to win the conference. Besides...does anyone really believe Akron or the MAC will gain respect with a win? They'll be viewed as an exception to an otherwise mediocre conference. Quote

And it is incredibly petty to say that winning is bad for US since they would get better recruits and beat us. The entire point is to win, and they are doing it. The beat not only the BEST team in the MAC but also the SECOND BEST team in the MAC. Quote
akronzips71 Posted March 19, 2010 Author Report Posted March 19, 2010 Ohio looks good to score around 80 unless they collapse. Gtown has to hit 40 points in 14 minutes to have a chance. This one looks very solid right now. Quote

That's not the point...winning allows them the opportunity to possibly get better quality recruits, recruits that we (or they if they lose) can't touch right now. Quote

Valpo Zip Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 It is disturbing that zips fans are rooting for their conference foes to suck. Then in another thread people will be complaining how the MAC doesn't get respect. I would rather be the second or third team in a great conference like xavier in the A-10 or BYU in MWC as opposed to being the champion in a terrible conference where we get the automatic bid and a 15 seed and get blown by double digits in the tournament. I hope all MAC teams win their post-season tournaments (OU in the NCAA, Can't in the NIT, and Akron in the ...oh wait!) Quote

The BEST route to success for the MAC is to win against quality opponents in games that count. The Dance and the NIT are the absolute best possibility for that to happen. Quote
