Dr Z Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 Banged-up MAC: A few teams in the Mid-American Conference are already facing some injury issues. Akron, one of the MAC East favorites, still is waiting for full practice clearance on forward Jeremiah Wood, who suffered a knee injury last season; and transfer guard Nick Dials, who had knee surgery this past summer. At Bowling Green, starting guard Steven Wright is out with a broken foot. At Can't, transfer Trent Morgan is out with a sprained ankle. Toledo's ailments start with the coach, Stan Joplin, who is nursing a sore back. The East Division five includes junior forward Romeo Travis from Akron, senior forward Kevin Warzynski from Can't State, junior center Yassin Idbihi from Buffalo and the tandem of senior swingman Mychal Green and sophomore forward Leon Williams from Ohio, which won the MAC Tournament. The West Division five consists of forward Mike McKinney from Northern Illinois, center John Bowler from Eastern Michigan, guard Sam Villegas from Toledo, guard Peyton Stovall from Ball State and center Joe Reitz from Western Michigan. Akron1 Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 Still hearing Wood will not be ready for the opener. But, Dials will be ready sooner than anyone thought. Maybe we will hear more tonight. Post anything you hear! Quote
Hilltopper Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 From what I hear in Woods case its from a lack of effort. Dials is just the opposite, they are trying to slow him down so there is no problems later. Quote
Sloopy Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 Both Dials and Wood played tonight at the tipoff event. Pretty easy going scrimmage but both seemed to move well. Doubt it will be much longer for the clearnace if it has not already been given. Quote
Hilltopper Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 Sloopy, I saw it a little differently last night. Dials appears to be in much better shape than Wood. Dials is highly motivated and looks as though he will be ready to play soon. Wood an the other hand looked slow and out of shape. He had a noticeable limp and looked lost. My guess is that Dials will contribute sooner than Wood. How about that combo dunk by Futch and Joyce? that was funny Quote
msopher Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 Two Toledo post players got into a fist fight last week during practice and one guy broke his nose. That's a sign for things to come for my Rockets! Quote
