ZachTheZip Posted July 26, 2010 Author Report Posted July 26, 2010 Back on track... Toledo signs Miami FL to a home-and-home series with the Canes visiting the Glass bowl first, ensuring that they don't buy their way out of playing in a MAC stadium. Why can teams like Toledo and Buffalo get these great deals and home-and-home series with respectable BCS teams, while we are stuck using 3-for-1s to get Indiana to play here or the back end of a 2-for-1 for Syracuse. The only good deal we got was Cinci, and that was a gift from one of our former ADs. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 The only good deal we got was Cinci, and that was a gift from one of our former ADs. How is a 2-for-1 with Cincinnati any better than a 2-for-1 with Syracuse? Maybe after our 3-year building plan is complete, we can get our ass pounded against Miami FL just like Toledo will? We can only hope. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted July 26, 2010 Author Report Posted July 26, 2010 How is a 2-for-1 with Cincinnati any better than a 2-for-1 with Syracuse? Two reasons. The first is that Cinci doesn't suck. The second is that our home game came in the middle of the two road games, while Syracuse is playing here at the end of the series where they could have easily bought the game out if they wanted to. Captain Kangaroo Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 2-for-1 with a Big East opponent is 2-for-1 with a Big East opponent. The fact that UC's program ascended to Top 10 status was, scheduling-wise, all luck. We got a BCS win out of the Syracuse contact... and, to-date have no wins out of the UC contract. It is a pretty legit argument that the Syracuse contract is better for the Zips football program. Quote
