you am i
What if Zeke pulls a muscle weightlifting? Or drops a plate on his toe? Won't his free throw arm-motion be restricted if he gets too big? He's not spending too much time in the weight room and neglecting his classwork, is he? And what supplements is he taking...hopefully they have all been approved by the NCAA? Is he wearing a weight belt for back support? Please make sure he stretches properly before lifting...that's sooo important! Oratorious D.I.G reminded me of another point - He isn't working exclusively on weights and neglecting his cardio, is he? Oh that would be terrible...just terrible... For you, D.I.G.: Oratorius D.I.G. That is very good.
Dave in Green
What, me worry? My "ulcers" comment was followed by a . I don't have ulcers; I give ulcers. Good point about Zeke's early season aches and pains. Not only does that slow a player on the court, it also slows down physical workouts, which can lead to tiring more quickly. GP1
Given the brilliance of using billboards as marketing devices, we must have had one Hell of and paid gate that year. One of my favorites. With this great marketing tool, he finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting that year. Congratulations Oregon marketing on your fourth place finish and your billboard.....I guess. Billboards are a complete waste of money for selling football tickets. They are like annoying pop-up ads on the internet. Billboards are great for advertising Hooters at Myrtle Beach and getting the word out to truck drivers as to the location of the Asian Massage "Spa". Nobody drives down the road, sees a billboard and picks up the phone and calls for season tickets. Think of the thousands, maybe millions, of people who drive by billboards on Rt 8 weekly. The response rate for a billboard has to be less than 1% or every game would be sold out. They would do better with a targeted mailer to a D&B list. The one thing they are doing and should continue to do is telemarketing. My friend had four tickets last year (never had season tickets before). He received a call from the ticket office and they told him two next to him opend up. He bought his four and the other two. Upselling an existing customer is easier than bringing on a new customer. I'm actually surprised they could figure that one out. Secondly, pay athletic department staff 10% of any sales they make to new ticket holders. I know it is probably hard for the staff to stop pushing paper and "supervising" the ISP team, so give them some incentive to do it.

Once 10% of any sales they make to new ticket holders equals their base, then pay them on top of their base an additional 10% of any sales to new ticket holders. My prediction would be that nobody will be earning more than their base salary.

Billboards can be extremely effective in building brand and awareness, I helped run a billboard campaign this year for a newer Cleveland-based sports league that was very successful. Cost was very minimal, we were actually able to get space donated during two months. When I say minimal, think a night out with the Mrs, not vacation money.
