Captain Kangaroo Posted November 9, 2005 Report Posted November 9, 2005 From the PD: "For someone to have all these accolades for four years, and you get passed up by the hometown college, it really doesn't make sense," Sutton said of Ohio State. "They had the opportunity for four years to try and pursue me." Here's one for you, Tyrell: That said...we need to get this damn stadium build so we can one day keep some of these "stud" Akron HS running backs (Pittman, Carter, Sutton, Wells, etc.) "home," playing for their real "hometown" school. Quote
Buckzip Posted November 9, 2005 Report Posted November 9, 2005 Sutton, Carter, maybe. Pittman probably not. Wells, No way. I would love to see that also. However, the #2 ranked back in the nation doesn't go to a non major program. Even with a new stadium, few are going to passs up playing in front of 100,000 people to play in from of 25000. We may get the recruits from Pitt, Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, etc. But not from the big time major majors... Speaking of miffed, and him feeling he wasn't respected, I think he should realize that not calling the school that is in his hometown team, his "hometown team" is pretty damn disrespectful. Quote
zip37 Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 WHO REALLY GIVES A HOOT ABOUT SOMEONE GETTING MIFFED-- I OFTEN GET MIFFED, AND LIKE AN ADULT, I GET ON WITH LIFE. SUTTON SHOULD GET ON WITH HIS LIFE--IT'S WAY TOO SHORT TO SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF. WBALAL Quote
RACER Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 hopefully they teach geography at his school;since cbus is about two hr drive from akron. Quote

SUTTON SHOULD GET ON WITH HIS LIFE--IT'S WAY TOO SHORT TO SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF. WBALAL It wasn't the fact that he was miffed that made the quote tomatoable, it was the fact that he considers OSU his "hometown" school. Go to Youngstown and ask a local what their hometown school is...after dodging a couple bullets and being assaulted with a blunt object and then being violated while you lay unconsious I guarantee the Younsgstowner says "YSU." And trust me, there are as many OSU fans in Youngstown as there are in Akron. IMO: Getting a brand-spankin' new football stadium and fielding a winning team will create a quantum leapforward in making Akronites think "Zips" when they talk about their hometown team. Even if they are OSU fans. I hope this faculty/pay thing gets settled soon so we can start the f-ing stadium! Quote

Captain Kangaroo Posted November 13, 2005 Author Report Posted November 13, 2005 faculty contract issue is finalized Please elaborate Sorry. I don't elaborate on faculty contract issues. Maybe you can check the Beacon archives if it is that interesting to you. Quote
UA Fan Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 The faculty voted about 2 years ago to unionize and they are finally getting close to finalizing a contract with the admin. IIUC, they have tentatively agreed on the major issues with the rest to be recommended by an indepent arbitrator before a final vote. It's supposed to be finished by next month. We don't know exactly what agreements they have made, they're not publicly saying yet. Maybe the faculty have demanded increased pay/benefits pegged to the amount of spending on buildings, campus improvements and athletics, who knows? Our stadium funds are supposed to come from private sources and possibly state assistance so I don't see why it would depend on the faculty contract...it won't be coming out of their pockets. Quote
