ZachTheZip Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 NIU wants to emulate the atmosphere created by students at Akron soccer games. I think we should send a busload or two of our own students to show them how it's done. Quote
plowerman78 Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 ha ha slight laugh after reading that....I would say yes on that whole bus thing but its the same day as Can't football and no matter how bad we may be we gotta represent at Can't and help keep the Wagon Wheel. Quote

I don't want to contribute to Can't's attendance drive. They're counting heavily on a big crowd for the wagon-wheel game to get them over the 90k mark. I can't help them out without feeling ill. And if the football team is bad enough (winless with no realistic shot to beat even Can't), I would rather drive 8 hours to the middle of nowhere in Illinois to watch soccer than continue supporting Coach I. Sorry, but Football is on the verge of being dead to me. Quote

And for God's Sake, would you start filling the seats behind the baskets at the basketball games for a game other than Ken+? Quote
Wally B Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 Maybe part of their problem is they only have 3 games at home (except for their early season tournament) all year Quote
mes102 Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 I agree with Zach...besides, with the Rowdies getting so much talk(SI article, Caleb talking about it,etc), the Rowdies need to do this...I rather spend 8 hours on a bus to watch a game that we should easily make a home field advantage with the numbers they're showing, then to watch a football team that probably can't even beat some of the cupcakes that Dambrot puts on his schedule year in and year out. Even if it's just one bus with all the loudest students, that still should be enough to make it our home field... I bet if it was the other way around, that the football team was ranked like Boise State, and soccer was average, and Can't actually had a soccer team, i bet the Rowdies would go to every single road game whether it was at KEntucky or Indiana the same day the soccer team plays Can't... Since I got all of that off my chest, I agree with Zach..even if I have to help with fundraising/advertising to help the Rowdies, I will...We have the #1 soccer team in the nation, it's time to show who the #1 student section in the nation is... Could you imagine the notoriety the Rowdies would receive if we packed up a bus or two and followed the soccer team to every away game? I know as a member I would jump at such an opportunity. I can't wait for the OSU game later this month. Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 After a long talk with my idol at Akron, I have had some sense knocked into me. My true fanhood has been awakened. All I have to say is... Quote
