akron football
Correct me if I'm wrong but the majority of Zips fans are very silent until something good happens. We need to have a home field advantage, let's get loud.
Wally B
Yes and No I disagree that zips fans are quiet until we win..... I've seen A LOT of old faces on here this season ! Without the Nation we'd be like Can't... Quiet win or lose Yes get loud!! Win or lose it's our team!! Make some noise!!
skip-zip
Unfortunately, when we're saying this here, we're preaching to the choir. It's the other 10,000-20,000 people, or however many decide to show up, that need to get the message
InTheZone
I disagree that Zips fans, at least the hardcore ones, are silent and uncaring unless we win. Just look at this site this past week.... there's been more activity than any time since we won the MAC it seems like! I think this week was a huge wake up call to a lot of people that there's a lot wrong with this program and we don't have the competent people in place that are needed to fix it. Blue & Gold
I was stomping my feet for the Zips' D last week v. GW, even though I thought it was disgraceful that we were in such a close game with a 1AA. The first two weeks of the season were unmitigated disasters. The next two weeks are likely to be the same. But I'll be there v. Northern Illinois, once again stomping my feet for the D!
GP1
I don't think fans are complacent at all. I think the emotions range from p!$$ed off to frustration. There is still emotion and lot of it. When the emotion stops, the program is in much bigger trouble than it is right now.

gozips19
i think what the poster is trying to say (and correct me if i'm wrong) is that during the games the fans are not that into it. with that i tend to agree in all akron sports. I attended both the Syracuse & GW games. I lost my voice for several days after the Cuse game cause I was yelling so much through my mini Zips mega-fone. After the GW loss I temporarily lost my voice because of yelling during the game and becasue I was completely dumbfounded when GW kicked the winning goal. I just don't understand "fans" that don't rally round the team in both Good times and Bad, especially the Bad Times. Anybody can get behind a winner. It takes pride and guts to support a struggling team. I look forward to soon becoming one of those "Anybody's". Go ZIPS -

That's on the students. They're the ones that are supposed to be screaming and yelling and chanting and heckling the other team. I couldn't tell you why only about 50 students really do this on a campus of 30,000 and it's the same 50 at every sporting event from football to volleyball. I think things will improve beginning today, though.
