UAZips Posted September 19, 2010 Author Report Posted September 19, 2010 Halftime, 1-0 Zips. 11 fouls on Cincy to 3 on Akron. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 An OK crowd on hand. Not nearly as big as Friday night's, though. Cinci committing lots of fouls because they can't keep up physically. Quote

RootforRoo44 Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 Zips win 1-0. The refs were horrible. AMEN, they seemed to be picking at us at times but then i realized they were making HORRIBLE calls both ways. The one line judge called about 5 straight close out of bounds calls wrong right in front of me (20 feet away). Quote
GoZips Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 Zips win 1-0. The refs were horrible. Beyond horrible. The damned referee TWICE called fouls on the Zips right in front of the goal allowing UC two shots from point blank range. They missed both of them. One thanks to a great save by David Meves. Bad part ... neither "foul" was an actual foul. Looked like the referee getting even with Meves for what ever David said to him in the first half that caused Meves to get a yellow card. note: upon review of the box score no yellow was given to Meves. From right behind the goal where I was standing it sure looked like Meves drew a yellow. The score lists: AKRON #8 SARKODIE, Kofi Yellow card 51:31 AKRON #10 AMPAIPITAKWONG, A. Yellow card 53:26 *** my bad *** NCAA should review the official's conduct. In my humble opinion, he should never be allowed to referee another Zips match. He was vindictive and putrid. Quote
Wally B Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 I have a feeling that we'll see more of this..... The SoccerRoo's are playing with a chip on their shoulder, and i like it! Quote
tbozeglav Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 Does it surprise anyone? God forbid the NCAA has a lowly school like Akron #1 in the rankings. After the royal shafting in 2008, I expect the worst from the NCAA and officials. Quote

Are you really suggesting that the NCAA actually instructed a soccer referee to purposely make biased calls against UA? (More broadly, are you really suggesting that the NCAA cares about soccer?) Get a grip people, the official was indeed lousy yesterday, but the cries of "The NCAA is out to get us" everytime something remotely bad happens are getting ridiculous. Quote

Z.I.P. Posted April 15, 2020 Report Posted April 15, 2020 Thanks. I had forgotten they had a team. ?♂️ Quote
zippypitt Posted April 15, 2020 Report Posted April 15, 2020 Maybe we can pick up a player or two? Their goalie has a ton of experience between the pipes last year. They scored 22 goals as a team, so not a ton of help there. Quote

Their goalie has a ton of experience between the pipes last year. Their keeper with the most minutes had a goals against average (GAA) of 2.14. The other 2 with minutes had GAAs of 1.98 and 8.00. Midfielders or defenders may be better options. https://gobearcats.com/documents/2019/11/1/2019_msoc_combined_season_stats.pdf Edited April 16, 2020 by Zip_ME87 1 1 Quote
