Jalil Carter...

I missed Saturday's game. So, if there is something I don't know, tell me.

If I saw it correctly, Carter did not have a reception. If I missed it, the most he had was 1 (b/c no one had more than 1).

What's going on here? Third team all-MAC at safety last year & Nicely's #1 receiver in the spring game (and he really LOOKED the part of a WR).

Carter seems like a good athlete and a Division 1 talent (which many on here believe we have little of). If I question just one thing about this coaching staff, I cannot understand how they have "allowed" this player to become insignificant.

Secondary is one out of the top three areas we need immediate help in. I believe he would make our team better if he returned there.

I don't want to comment on his receiving skills at this time. He is only doing what the staff is asking of him (team player).

Maybe he's being used as a decoy to occupy opposing defenses to open up opportunities for our other receivers, so our QB can complete 16 of his 54 passes in our two games against 1A opponents. I think it's working

Seems like a waste to see him running routes out there all game long while passes keep sailing over receiver's heads or into the ground, while we watch our DBs struggle on the other side of the ball.

Let's take one of our best defensive players, put him on offense, and then not play him. Another genius move by Captain Fighting Irish.

The coaching staff doesn't want to admit they made a mistake.

If true, that is a big bad sign of major issues.

Even if I did agree with this, they could easily spin it to the development of younger receivers, slower development of DBs, injury issues, etc.

I guess, no matter how it is "spun" or what the truth is, it is another bad development in a rough beginning to the 2010 season.

It's not. Coaches want to win.

They want to win... eventually. The coach has a plan to make a winning team, but this is the first year of that plan and so they don't really have to do much beyond talent evaluation even at the expense of winning.

Also switched Hall, a highly touted DE to TE and he doesn't get the ball. Really odd.

I agree to an extent. The difference, of course, is Carter had proved to be able to play DB in college, where Hall hadn't done anything in college and, PROBABLY, played on O and D in high school. We see this with a guy like Randy Greenwood as well=I think he has been moved once or twice already!

Hall was a running back in high school as well as playing on defense
