UAZips
So, the wife and I are in town from the great white north and will be at the game tonight. I haven't been to a Zips match since I was in school (early 2000s), so I have a couple questions. 1. I know to get there early (GA tickets), but how early is appropriate? 2. Is there any GA area that's better than the others for taking in the action with the new setup? This will be my wife's first soccer game ever in person, so I want to really wow her with the Akron soccer experience As for the game, let's make FAU and the rest of the schedule pay for Wednesday night! tbozeglav
The earlier the better, but I dont think itll sell out, so you should be good either way. Obviously the prime spots will fill up first. If you want to be able to see the action and hear everything going on from the Rowdies, id go for the west stands. If you want to be part of the rowdiness, go for the east stands. Downside to the east stands is that you wont be able to see the near goal that well due to the students. UAZips
Thanks! I stopped down to have lunch in the Union and checked out the field as I left. It looks incredible. Is the new exchange deck a good place to park? The earlier the better, but I dont think itll sell out, so you should be good either way. Obviously the prime spots will fill up first. ZachTheZip
Is the new exchange deck a good place to park? You'll want to park in the new deck. Parking will be a nightmare tonight. There is a high school football game at the Info, and the Cavs Wine/Gold Scrimmage is also tonight in the JAR.
Captain Kangaroo
I can't imagine soccer parking will be bad with a 5:30pm start. The scrimmage and football game don't start until 2 hours later.

Agreed. If you're going to have to buy tickets, then they'll make you go in the SE gate. Best spot to park may in fact be in one of the lots next to the JAR if they're not blocked off for the Cavs.
tbozeglav
http://www.gozips.com//ViewArticle.dbml?DB...TCLID=205004156 May want to read that over before heading out. I agree that if you're going to the soccer match(es), park in the exchange decks. Since they'll have all 4 gates open, youll be able to get to the field easily. If the University has this planned right, Soccer parking will be contained to the exchange deck, Wine/Gold parking to east campus deck, and the Akron City Series game to Lot 9 and any remaining parking around the stadium. RootforRoo44
Zips won easily...was actually a pretty boring game save for a 60 second two goal flurry in the first half. 3-0 final ASN Article
yazan07
I noticed a couple things tonight at the game. First of all, I realized that our two leading goal scorers are none other than our two freshmen who start and get the most minutes of any of the freshmen. I don't know if that says something about the continuous improvement of Porter's recruiting classes or what. Also as I had hoped for, we got to see some of the guys in action tonight who don't usually play. Enrique Paez is always a crowd favorite, at least among the students, because a lot of us know him. This was probably also fun for him because he briefly attended FAU if I am not mistaken. We also got to see Reinaldo Brenes for the first time tonight. I had just assumed he was redshirting this year, but apparently he is not. I think by the end of the game, with the exception of Meves and maybe one other player, we had subbed out all of our starters.
Captain Kangaroo
Definitely not the match that would turn Dr Z into a futbol fan. 90 minutes, and FAU never mounted any sort of threat. I like the fact that there are seats in the west end, but those seats ain't the greatest. Only 5 rows high, your vision is constantly blocked by passers-by. They really need a scoreboard facing the west-enders. Nothing fancy...just time and score. Hell...I'd take time-only. The Rowdies make the East side rock. A totally different event on that side of the field. Nice evening and a good crowd. I look forward to more exciting opponents.

I also assumed Brenes was redshirting, but glad to see him play and to talk with the guys in the autograph line after the game. They really need a scoreboard facing the west-enders. Michigan, Michigan and Creighton - should be fun games. A short trip to Cleveland State on Oct 30th should also be good.
