Zipmeister
Call me a front-runner, call me a bandwagoner, call me a fair-weather fan all you want, but right now as a student I have ZERO motivation to go to any football games. The worst part: Im sure 99% of the student body feels that way too and I'm one of the more diehard fans on campus. I was there for the embarrassment at the hands of Syracuse. I was there for the meltdown at the hands of GW. I was there at the downright shelling at the hands of NIU. Im done. This is my 4th year of Zips football and Im done. I cannot bring myself to willingly leave my house, which is only 3 blocks away from the stadium, brave the cold weather and sit in the stands for 2 hours while I watch my team get decimated by anyone who's willing to walk through the gates, potentially including the Can't State Dance Team. Hell, Id rather go to a Browns game than a Zips game because at least the Browns are competitive and CAN win games. Will the zips go winless this year: NO. They will win a game or two, but by chance and luck. I have seen NOTHING from this team or coaching staff to make me believe we might deserve to be the favorite for any of our remaining games, much less WIN a game by pure talent. You are a front-runner, a bandwagoner, and a fair-weather fan.
Buckzip
I just finished watching Coach I's interview today and quite frankly he's very comfortable for a team that is 0-5 now granted we probably should be 2-3. ..... I've always been envious of people with the special power of being able to read other people's minds. I've watched hundreds of coaches being interviewed over the last half century, and I haven't been able to read the mind of a single one to the point of being confident that they are "comfortable" with losing. Transferring after 4 games from the coach that signed you is a really bad thing. He obviously feels this program is a mess. ..... Extraordinary! Two mind readers in a single thread! Over the last half century I've seen many players transfer out of winning programs, so I'd have never guessed that one transferring out of a losing program "obviously" did it because he felt the program is a mess. Now that I know that there are so many forum members on ZN.O with the ability to read other people's minds, I'm going to be extra careful about what I'm thinking. So sarcastic one, how many athletes have you seen transfer out after 4 games into their true freshman season when they aren't redshirting? I am not expecting an answer or at least not an honest one. Dave in Green
Now that it's been established that your mind reading ability is not yet perfected, here's the honest answer that was in my mind awaiting your read: I don't recall the specifics of every player I've heard about dropping out of a sports program. Everyone who follows sports reads news on an almost daily basis of some teenager dropping out of some sport for a variety of different reasons. Odds are that more than one non-redshirt freshman football player has left after playing exactly 4 games sometime somewhere. But, as you knew when you posed the question, it's not the type of data typical sports fans can cite from memory. Whether or not anyone can cite specific instances that exactly match this one to the tiniest detail is not really relevant to the point that one would have to be a mind reader to say that the specific reason why a Zips player left the team is because he "obviously feels this program is a mess." We all know that a player has left the football program, and we all know that the football program is a mess right now. What we don't really know are the personal reasons why this player chose to leave the program. Honest people simply admit they don't know things they don't know. Wally B
People people..... can we put our differences and frustrations aside for a few days and just hate on Can't for the sheer joy of it win or lose? Afterall they are experiencing a few problems themselves (but they actually had expectations) and now both of their fans are arguing with eachother
Big Zip
The funny thing our Akron's ineptitude is it is going to impact Can't's ability to fill the stands. I'm going to guess the Akron contingent which is usually pretty strong at Can't will be less than 500 this week. I for one won't be there because I can't bear to watch the beat down at the hands of our most hated rivals. If it is a 17 point betting line....I'm guessing we'll lose by 28. Dave in Green
Wow, you're really taking this seriously, aren't you? I thought we were having a little fun here. I mean, how boring would it be if I'd played it straight had simply asked: Do you have some inside information that leads you to believe that this player left the team because "he obviously feels this program is a mess," or are you just speculating? You have to remember that some people actually read sports forums primarily to learn factual information, and the way some of the posts are worded, it's not possible to separate fact from speculation without asking. Anyway, I apologize for creating such a stir. It was not my intent to start a fight.

I'm just messing. I don't take anything on the interzweb seriously. I always have fun. That's why I go to the smack board once in a while.
