I'd love to have a job with the Plain Dealer writing about the Browns. Every two years, I could just pull up my old QB articles, change the names and dates, then republish. Browns fans have become so desensitized to the stupidity of their favorite team, they don't even know or care about the articles at this point. I could condense eight hours of work into eight minutes writing about Browns QBs. Come to think of it, maybe that's why Terry Pluto had so much time to watch porn and develop a porn addiction....makes sense if you think about it.

That "new" car the Browns just bought has a lot of miles on it already. The guy has not played a down or proven a thing yet and he is less than two years from being on the wrong side of 30. By the time he gets into his "prime", his prime will be over. I know it sounds harsh, but the NFL is a harsh business for young guys in their 20s. Keep all of those PD and ABJ articles written about him in the next two weeks and see what they are writing about in two years.

The answer for the Browns was to keep McCoy and let his body get destroyed over the next three years while they try to turn that franchise into a real NFL franchise (And I don't just mean the guys on the field either). Use him up then cut him. After using up McCoy, you find a franchise QB once there are decent pieces around him. Take it from a Steelers fan...Never get emotional about the players on the field. If there is good, proven leadership in the franchise, the players become replaceable.

A really in-depth analysis of Weeden here for those who are up for a long read.
That's the longest article I ever read to find out he had rotator cuff and tendonitis issues in the minors. Not a good thing for a 30 year old.

That's right when I started have issues, and T-Sizzle never drilled me under my arm.

Great read and thanks for posting.

I don't think there is any doubt that Weeden is a very talented player. His problem isn't his talent...Heck, the Browns have had a lot of talented QBs over the years. The problem will be the Browns and what happens to good QBs when they play for Cleveland. After two years, they get run out of town one way or another then they bring another victim in to try to do something with the other 10 sad sacks they have playing for them.

One other thing I would tell Mr. Weeden is this. You say your age doesn't matter. You also say every team talked to you about your age. Translation....Your age matters and they know it...That's why every team asked you about your age. The author has a really good discussion about the age of QBs, but even at the conclusion he admits there really isn't much evidence to support his theory. I'd look at it another way other than QBs going to Pro Bowls, because there are already three QBs in Weeden's Division that will make a Pro Bowl before him. This is how I see age. QBs on bad teams (Browns) take a lot of hits and they get hurt a lot. The older you get, the longer it takes to rebound and the hits add up more quickly. His age is going to matter a lot more in Cleveland than if a better team drafted him. The misconception is talent matters in the NFL. In a world where nobody gets hurt, that would be one of the best indicators if not the best. However, injuries matter just about as much as anything else. The 1977 Steelers were one of the best teams of all times and only went 9-5 and lost in the first round of the playoffs. Why? Injuries.

My advice...Rent, don't buy.

Try to control your stupidity and don't run McCoy out of Cleveland. Get the guy some help in the form of a better #1 receiver and a better RB than Touchdown Tommy Hillis...or whatever his name is. McCoy handled himself well yesterday against a great defense on the road and for his first game ever. If the Browns do the right things around this guy, they can be a playoff team in the future. In 2-3 years, McCoy may be one of the one half of all starting NFL QBs who doesn't have his head up his butt. Time will tell, but even the Great GP1 and many in the crowd of Steelers fans at Dixies Tavern in Charlotte were impressed by McCoy. The guy can play, now get him some help.
Run, I mean traded out of town
