scottditzen
Hey Hartville, did you sleep though this "rat-bastard" Cleveland media portrayal of the Zips? http://zipsnation.org/forums//index.php?showtopic=20218 Wow. How profoundly disappointing. I'd rather lose to anyone in the country rather than Cleveland State. Now I absolutely guarantee you the rat-bastards Cleveland media will be all over this story. Screw you, Cleveland. At least LeBron kicked you to the curb. We still have that going for us.
Zip_ME87
The biggest disappointment to me was that it didn't seem like any of the Zips took this game seriously, including Coach Porter. What was with that starting lineup not including Nanchoff and Caldwell? (Kofi is hurt; so, I understand his not playing.) When you're the #1 team in the country, you're everyone's "big" game; you can't afford to be complacent. I realize the Zips' "reserve" players should have been able to win this game, and it's great to give players a rest, but the feel I had was this caused the Zips to believe all they had to do was show up and they would win. I'm not down on my team; I just want to see them be successful and reach their goal of winning the national championship. I hope this game reminded them that they have to pay attention to each game as it comes and not take anything or anyone for granted.
tbozeglav
Interesting quote from the comments of the story I linked to earlier... 2) We saw two sides of class today at the game as in the second half we saw a CSU player go down with a cramp and Akron's Zarek Valentin come to his assistance in a great show of sportsmanship until the trainer could make it onto the scene. The other side was CSU's Brad Stuver who after the clock expired ran first to the Akron bench and gave the entire team the finger (from both hands) before running to join his team in celebration. Though i wont go as far as saying that it was an example of how the Vikings' team is, i will point out that Zips coach Caleb Porter is a classy guy and his team reflects it. RootforRoo44
I find it amusing that the goalie claimed that CSU "is one of the best teams in the NCAA" ...ok you beat us but let's not be crazy.

I've been watching the Cleveland-centric televised newscasts for over two decades now, waiting, waiting, waiting for some recognition and acknowledgment to be shown to Akron. Has never come. If the past is a good indicator of the future, it will never come. If Cleveland chooses to pretend Akron doesn't exist, we can return the favor. The King sure did. Cleveland can crumble into the murky lake. Go Akron! Go Zips!
scottditzen
So the Zips would be in a better position if Cleveland disappeared, and it could rely on all of Akron's AWESOME media? I just don't think the University does a good enough job getting the media interested in our sports. Anyhow, not to get too far off topic, we're all upset over losing. The way things were going it was bound to happen sometime. Hope this is a wake up call that the team can build on. Nanchoff always starts, what was the reason for him not playing an entire half? And not only did Caldwell not start, he didn't play the entire match. Really peculiar. I didn't start watching until I realized the game was online, when there was about a half hour left, so maybe I missed this too, but the box score lists Enrique as playing 0 minutes and having one shot on goal, what was up with that? The thing that I couldn't help but wonder, and maybe this was probably just coincidence, but could Kofi's absence from the field have effected the team that greatly? I think I am just making excuses for the team's loss, but if we can just say that him not playing somehow led to this, at least that really supports the argument for him being the most deserving of the Hermann Trophy! Zip_ME87
Nanchoff has been nursing his hamstring. He wasn't supposed to play at all. Thanks. I wondered if he was hurting, and not scheduled to play. But, why didn't Scott Caldwell play? Is he also injured, or was it thought that others would do better in that lineup without Kofi and Nanchoff?
zip37
An aircraft throttle used to be a lever and it had 2 rubber balls on it as stops, so the full throttle became known as 'balls to the walll' the Zips need to go BALLS TO THE WALL all the time, they have a HUGE target on their backs and fronts.
