Hilltopper Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 Charlie got his first start today against J-ville. Halftime score: browns 14- Jac 3. Frye has 2 TD passes and his only incompletions were drops. Go #5! Quote
Quickzips Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 Frye looks good but god are the Browns cursed. Now Braylon Edwards goes down to what looks like a surefire ACL tear. Frye is the QB of the future though. No doubt about that, and if Dilfer see's the field again this year I will be 100% convinced that Crennel is not at all ready to be a head coach in the NFL. Quote
Sergeant Zip Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 He outshined the #1 overall selection in the draft. Alex Smith, 16/24, 185 pass, 3INT Charlie Frye, 13/20, 226 pass, 2TD Quote
Buckzip Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 Frye looked pretty good Bryant didn't drop 2 first down catches that resulted in punts, what may have been. He needs to ba more aware of the rush, but that will come with playing time. He should start the remainder of the season. The Browns need to see what they have, and he needs experience. Quote
Sergeant Zip Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Wednesday, December 07, 2005 Frye is starting QB Sunday vs. Cincinnati. 12:15 p.m. Tony Grossi Plain Dealer Reporter Romeo Crennel changed his mind and announced that Charlie Frye would be the Browns starting quarterback Sunday in Cincinnati. Crennel, who originally intended to keep his starter a secret, said that it would be unfair to Frye and Trent Dilfer to wait until Sunday. The coach broke the news to Frye and Dilfer on Tuesday and told the rest of the team when it reported to work on Wednesday. Crennel said he would insert Dilfer into the game if he felt Frye were "overwhelmed" in Cincinnati. Dilfer said he didn't agree with the move but he would do everything he could to prepare Frye for his first start on the road. Cleveland Plain Dealer Quote
Buckzip Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Well, he has his first game under his belt. Now he will get his first road game under his belt. Hopefully he will shine, and continue to start the rest of the year. Each snap he gets is more experience for him for the future. Quote
Hilltopper Posted December 7, 2005 Author Report Posted December 7, 2005 Thankfully it appears that sanity has prevailed at Browns headquarters. Dilfer is a mediocre starter at best on a team going nowhere. Frye deserves a chance to prove himself before next season. :macc: Quote
Quickzips Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Frye is the QB of the future for the Browns. PERIOD. On a somewhat related side note. Today Browns GM Phil Savage announced that next years when our #1 pick is announced his kneecaps will be broken immediatley. Just to get it over with. Quote
