I see a near repeat of the Stanford game from last year. Give me 3-0 Zips in front of a record crowd of nearly 5,000. The California boys can't handle the cold. I bet they don't even have winter gear for their bench players to wear.

FYI - Northern California is not San Diego.

They also don't play in Tahoe. The Bay Area is very mild relative to Saturday's forecast in Akron. The 25 degree difference (relative to Bay Area averages) and potential wet conditions are a huge advantage for us.

Cal played today in 50degree weather (compared to our 44) so the temperature may not be such a factor. We all remember south florida coming in here in the tournament a couple years ago in frigid conditions and beating us. As Caleb said- they stand in our way to the championship . A sidenote...there will NOT be any radio coverage next saturday since French and Dunn are on road with basketball.

Here is the California Golden Bear thread from the Bigsoccer board.

And FYI, IF we make it to Santa Barbara, folks going: Bring your jackets, temperatures in Santa Barbara County have been in the upper 20s over night for the past week. And for example, with high wind warnings in valleys, tonight the forecast is for wind chill near 0 Farenheit. Daytime temperatures this week are expected to warm into the 70s, however. Ahhhhh, Southern California. One more game, and I'll see you there. Go Zips! On to the :NCAAC::wave:

Exactly. I'm just pointing out to those who might not know that they certainly don't live in a warm, sunny beach climate. In fact, their summer weather is actually far cooler than ours.

Forty-four degees? Where? Game time temp verses IU was about forty, maybe. When the sun went

down at five the temp plunged with it. Post game temp was close to twenty-eight.

Update on Saturday forecast: High of 37, low 24 with mostly cloudy skies, no precip expected.

That should chill their bones and not take away our footing. Rain/snow is an equalizer.

You are correct. Zips do not want an equalizer; we are superior.

The temp difference can vary greatly in the Bay Area, you can freeze at Seal Rocks and be comfortable in Marin County. It mostly depends on the wind. The ccold ocean current off the Bay Area has a profound impact.

You are correct. I lived in the Bay area for more than a year. The weather across the bay from

San Franciso is a lot warmer than SF is. Berkley/Oakland is California. SF is Puget Sound South.

Unfortunately it looks like there won't be a WARF internet feed for the Cal game and I will be at the USSF Academy showcase in Phoenix watching my grandson play. He's an Akron 2011 commit. Anybody willing to text me with regular updates? Send me a PM and I'll give you my phone number. Thanks alot and GO ZIPS.

I think I'll still start a new thread, but Bisbee will have a chance to see not only his Seattle Sounders Academy prospect, but also -- if time allows, 2012 Akron recruit Andrew Souders at the Phoenix Showcase. Souders will be playing for the US U17s this week and weekend vs Korea, Brasil and Turkey. Good luck to all. BTW -- does anyone know about the youth showcase at Santa Barbara next week? Will there be any international level players or elite (e.g., Development Academy) teams participating. I think there are two separate youth tournaments aligned with the NCAA College Cup, one in Santa Barbara and one in Camarillo, in Ventura County.

No Academy teams playing in Santa Barbara Showcase. I will watch Souders play in phoenix.

BTW -- if you weren't watching -- Andrew Souders took a ball off the goal line in each of the two games for the USA, to preserve the 2-1 win over S. Korea and the scoreless draw with Brazil. His defensive efforts against Brazil were worthy of Player of the Game for the Yanks. Unfortunately the USA, despite having a two man advantage for 20 minutes, could not sustain an offensive attack vs the South Americans, and are tied with Turkey at topof the tourney table. They play Turkey on Sunday 7 PM EST on Fox Soccer Channel.

Early weather forecast is for 30-36 degrees with a 40% chance of rain and/or snow.

This should bode well for the Zips. Except for our frozen Mattocks.

Unfortunately, Cal has drawn first blood in 31st minute. We will see how this team responds to being down for the first time this season!

Avalos scores for Cal! Assist by Jones! with 14:47 left in the first half from about 15 yards, inside the corner of the penalty area (from Cal Twitter)

And our frozen buttocks.

Are we having any luck with the video stream on ZipsZone?

it doesn't have sound and 1350 am has a lessor priority game on.
