Beanie 4 Heisman
Apparently Steuby wasnt there for the game because he was making love to his high skool or something. more than likely msopher wasnt there either. Anyone who came to that game had some seious balls the tempurature was probably below zero before you count the wind chill into effect. then there were wind gusts of at least 30 mph. so for 8000 people or however many that came to that game. it was a great turn out. Oh, and steuby...no one really cares about your high school.
msopher
I was driving to PA that day for a family get together. The weather was bad, but I have seen worse conditions for a football game.

liljc
I am not trying to alienate Steuby, but I gotta say that when I read Beanie's quote saying "he was making love to his high skool", I actually , literally laughed out loud. No offense, Steuby, we're all Zips fans here, but Beanie cracked me up with that one. :macc:
fear the brown roo
hey steuby, care to tell a little about the tradition of turkey day to the people who grew up in akron? i've only lived here for 40 years, i'm sure you in your 6 months here know much more about it than i do. you're a zip. you attend a lot of events, i take it. i think everyone appreciates your enthusiasm for the university but you don't know shit about turkey day, the city, or the people who live here......yet. live and learn. mrelegazna
I watched on TV. It certainly looked like the worst snow-game I've ever seen...most games where there's snow on the field, it's just a thin patina of it. It looked like the players in this game, though, were practically ankle deep in it no matter how furiously the grounds crew tried to clear it away. Just my 2 cents. The weather was bad, but I have seen worse conditions for a football game. i agree with the captain. i can't beleive someone would be foolish enough to post that. i was there and tailgated at 7:00 am with 20 others. we had to take turns eating and holding the tent flaps down so it wouldn't blow away. i was shocked to see as many people as i did when i entered the rubber bowl. no doubt in my mind had it been a clear morning in the 40's there would've been 30,000 there. "i've seen worse" what an ass.
Blue & Gold
I was at the Turkey Day game... for as long as I could manage (I only lasted about 1 & 1/2 quarters!) THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS WORSE CONDITIONS than we experienced this past Thanksgiving. If the weather would have been ANY worse AT ALL, it would have been immoral, if not illegal, to send the players out into the elements to play that game!!! I was bundled up as if I was on an arctic expedition AND I STILL ONLY LASTED 1 & 1/2 QUARTERS!!! It was just flat unimaginably BRUTAL!!! scottditzen
I was proud to be at the Can't game. It was surreal, a great football experience. Sure, I lingered inside a little long after halftime but it was fun. Anyway, it was great NOT having some Akron "fan" behind me asking me to sit down for the whole game, as in the MCB.p.s. that Turkey game was not the coldest game I've ever experienced. That would def have to be Chargers at Browns, 2004. Beer froze in the cup just like a slurpee.
GoZips
Have to toss in my comments on this subject.I was traveling to Rhode Island for Thanksgiving that morning. The weather was so badthat my inbound flight coming from DC was forced to land at Pittsburgh. I had to switchairlines in order to complete my trip. The visibility at Cleveland Hopkins were ZERO. Planes could depart, but nothing waslanding. The wind and blowing snow was incredible. I figured that the game would bepostponed. My hat is tipped to those who braved the elements and went to the game. The luckycouple who got my season tickets as a gift reported later that they stayed for the entiregame. They claimed they had a ball.Hard to believe that any one traveling in NE Ohio that morning did anything other thanwhite knuckle driving in shear terror. I know my trip up I-71 to Hopkins was diceydespite that almost no one was on the road. Then again, if you were driving with thewind to your back it well may have looked clear. Wally B
Allright I've heard enough about this, but here's my 2 cents and then I'm done with it. Came up from the Carolinas and attended the game. The home side was mostly filled, Can't's was empty and that is what was shown on tv.Conditions:6 inches of snow ............... no problem.temp - appx. 15f .............. cold but still it is football45 mph wids ................... OMFG this created white-out conditions and made everything brutal. The goal posts were swaying, and the houses across the airport disappeared. need I say more.Attendance means something? OK Marsh..... er Toledo fans try the Motor City Bowl. Zips fans showed we support our team!
UADavid
I went to this game and stayed the entire time, including the celebration of the wagon wheel. We actually tailgated at 7:00am before the game. It was a brutal day. Even when the sun came out the wind cut right through your clothing. With the airport at the open end, the stadium was like a wind tunnel. Many people were ducking under the stands in the concession area or in the bathrooms. I don't think I have ever been that cold. You may not believe what I tell you, but if you weren't at the game you can't comment with any authority or credibility on my opinion of the weather at the game. Sorry, that's the way it is! As always and the Zips are :macc:

Troll-edo Rockets
Look guys,I'm sorry for all the bad things I've said on this board. I know that you guys have a post that says "do feed the troll", but really that hurts me deep down inside. I cry myself to sleep rocking in the fetal position every time I log off of this board knowing that I cannot win with any of you guys. it's depressing sitting in my mother's basement lamenting the mighty Zips kicking ass in the conference. I'll be at the Can't game crying when the football team gets the championship ring. You'll be able to recognize me by the Zoloft-induced smile on my face. Just say hi and I'll flush that medicated smile wide. **MOTHER, I'M TROLLING THE ZIPS BOARD AGAIN!! GO TO BED!** Sorry about that guys, mother won't leave me alone. She keeps reminding me that I'm 35 and that I have never had a steady job...um, last time I checked being a roadie for "Flock of Seagulls" qualifies as a steady job, I mean, the summer of '85 was a rocking time. Look guys, this board is really my only home, just because I've never "been with a woman" doesn't mean I shouldn't be taken seriously.
