ZachTheZip
Michigan is too dangerous for us to start sitting on the lead here. Need to keep attacking. Too much time left. I'm fine with sitting on the lead via the possession game, as long as we confine our little game of keep-away to their half of the field. ZachTheZip
Haha! According to Twitter, the Rowdies had set up camp directly behind the UM goal just before Kofi scored the game-winner. Might have had an effect. He admitted to being afraid of them when we played at home.

Zipmeister
Way to go Zips. This is the kind of game that should have been televised. But no, I have to go out and purchase a short wave radio and pick up a faint transmission out of Guam. Come on TV folks, get on the stick. The goalie must have turned around and saw him. Hard to focus on stopping a shot when you know Speedo Guy is standing right behind you. The Hip Zip
A very solid dominant victory. I thought that we left a couple of goals out on the field but all is well that ends well. Still, I about filled my boxers when Michigan banged one off the post.

Dave in Green
At first I wasn't too worried about Michigan's early goal, as the Zips appeared to be dominating and getting plenty of decent shots. As the shots kept missing, I started getting this queasy feeling about what if this is one of those games where every shot just misses. Sure was a relief to finally see a couple go in. Akron-Louisville is going to be one heck of a game.
jem101
Absolutely amazing game, besides that early slip up and about a five minute stretch in the second half when Saad clanged one off the post, the Zips dominated. Really should have scored a few more goals too. Did anyone else see on ESPN2 that there were a bunch of fans wearing Rowdies shirts and Gaucho scarves? Great to see that Ian and the rest of the Rowdies are doing some recruiting on the West Coast.

Z.I.P.
Great to see that Ian and the rest of the Rowdies are doing some recruiting on the West Coast. http://ucsbgauchos.yuku.com/sreply/24088/t...he-weekend.html Zips fans, there were an equal number of Akron Rowdies and UC-Santa Barbara Gaucho Locos behind Akron's bench during the game. Someone apparently brought Rowdies T-shirts for the Locos -- I didn't realize how many of them there were (at least 30, nearly all plastered!) until well into the second half, when I noticed they all had yellow shirts under their Rowdies shirts. The Locos carried out their traditon of throwing tortillas on the field after goals by their favored teams -- Louisville in game 1 and Akron for the final. I gotta go to the store -- somehow I think cooking or toasting the tortillas would make them sail better. At about the 25 minute mark of the second half, the Rowdies (ours, that is) moved behind the Meechigan goalkeeper. The two sectons, started a "Z-I P-S" chant across the field a few times. All in all, I would say the Rowdies fairly held their own. I think it was the Locos who were largely responsible for the NCAA rep coming up midway through the first half and asking that we "restrain the rhetoric". I think maybe something about how when the UM keeper hit his place kick each time they would yell, "YOU SUCK", and then something about "Once a doosh bag, always a doosh bag", etc. etc. I imagine that that Gauchoyoungin will be reading this -- if he and his minions regain consciousness today, and can provide their perspective on events. Now, I gotta find out where the Final party is taking place tonight. If anyone here or in Akron finds out, please post it here!
RootforRoo44
That was a fantastically entertaining game. Even though we were down, i honestly never worried. We were getting so many opportunities, it was only a matter of time before they started hitting their targets. Their goalkeeper made some great plays at times that could have easily gone through and put that game into blowout territory. Who knows, if Meves pays attention for 100% of the Sunday and the defense doesn't give free lanes down the middle of the field, the Zips could have destroyed them 5-6 to nothing.
