Blue & Gold Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 Thanks Tom! Here's another seemingly all-too-familiar quote from KD: ''He is way more coachable now. He still has moments where he gets emotional, but he has bought into what we are saying and what we are trying to do,'' Dambrot said. ''I think it helps that he is playing much more now. He feels no threat about playing time. He is more relaxed.'' I love KD. But any casual Zips' observer can now see this as a recurring theme: Jimmy Conyers... Brett McClanahan... Nik Cvetinovic. I hope KD begins to see the pattern here. Quote

It should then increase by 5 minutes per game until their senior year when they are playing 40 minutes. How dare KD base player minutes on what he thinks makes sense. If things keep going the way they are now, the Zips will never have a winning program. Quote

The guy subs guys in and out on a whim. He never lets players get into the flow of the game and he yanks you for the smallest mistake. That kills confidence. It's a big reason why Zips lose some games they have no business losing and why games are closer than what they need to be. Piss poor rotations. Quote
Dave in Green Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 I guess I'm not anybody, because I don't see KD having poor rotations due to going only on a whim. I see KD as a smart coach who, like most coaches, tries different rotations early in the season to try to find the ones that work best in specific situations. As far as I can see, KD gives the most PT to the players who play with the best combination of intensity, smarts and skill, both individually and in teamwork. Some players are better at that early in their careers, and it doesn't click for some until later in their careers. Not that KD doesn't make mistakes. He's human like the rest of us. But in general I think he has a better grasp of how each of his players is capable of performing at various points in their careers than any of us do. He'd better, since he's being paid a lot of money to do the right thing, and we fans are just throwing out free advice in our spare time. Quote
