GoZips Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Let's get one thing straight right up front. Akron, not Louisville, is the best men's college soccer team in America. We are number one, they are pretenders. Quote
Sergeant Zip Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Holy crap. "Zips" is trending worldwide on Twitter right now. You older guys may not understand what that means. Essentially, we are one of the 10 most-discussed things IN THE WORLD at this moment. One of the top searches on Bing too. Quote

Those of us inside Harder Field were feeling your presence about the time the singing of "I Believe" got into high gear. Mahalo from one of those on the scene for your support back "home". Quote

I cannot wait to see the video of that. I'm hoping someone was smart enough to film it! Quote
tbozeglav Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Another good article by the folks over at ESPN. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/columns/sto...&id=5913687 best quote of the article doesn't come till the end: "Also, my mentor [Jerry Yeagley] stayed at Indiana his entire career. He had other opportunities, but in the end, he got so attached he could never leave it. And right now, that's kind of where I'm at." Quote

I wish we could clone him for our football team. Quote

The top of camp web page is awesome. http://www.akronsoccercamp.com/ Well I can tell you personally that our camps are nationally known as my high school freshman cousin from Tallahassee, FL is coming up for two sessions this summer. The even crazier thing is, he committed to going before even knowing that two other teammates from his high school team were going as well. Now THAT is impressive! PORTER PORTER PORTER, Quote

PORTER PORTER PORTER, Along that same line, I was watching the brother of Louisville's #16 play in the Hawaii HS state tournament yesterday, and talking to another player's father, he said his son's dream was to play for Akron. Of course he has no chance to do that, but he can at least learn from the best by attending the Akron Soccer Camps! I bet he better get his app in quick though! Quote
MDZip Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 On my way back from Chicago, I came through Indianapolis and stopped by the NCAA Hall of Champions. The Zips Championship banner looks great! (Of course I did speak to them because the accompanying picture on their past champions kiosk showed a picture of Blair Gavin face down on the turf for THIS YEARS team), but in any case I seem to remember someone posting a picture of it before, but I can't find it. If no one did, I'll put the one I took up. Quote
MDZip Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 I searched and couldn't find another post on it, so here is your Zips Championship banner hanging in the NCAA Hall of Champions! Quote
