I have just seen the following information. It looks like he's flying over to Portugal soon to visit Portuguese SuperLiga club Benfica. That's all that I noticed. There's no more on whether he is just training, going on trial, or has been offered a contract. If he hasn't been offered a contract, I would assume he will be doing everything to keep his college eligibility. fknbuflobo
Genovese Holmes Speas Caldwell Brenes Trapp Balogun Yedlin Gallego Barson Meves I am glad that Mattocks is with us another year. Whew! Suppose freshman Yedlin starts @ RB, bisbee. That creates a problem because I definitely want to see Genovese play. Gabe did scrimmage quite a bit @ RB last year. Perhaps Balogun would be the 12th man. Luke Holmes is not transferring to Akron with one year eligibility left just to come off the bench. Revision 3: Mattocks Holmes Speas Caldwell Brenes Trapp Genovese Yedlin Gallego Barson Meves
yazan07
Will Trapp wins 2010 NSCAA player of the year. Can't wait for Trapp to be a Zip
fknbuflobo
Trapp is definitely pick of the litter. Shocking to see so many kids on this list from NEO. Only one of those, Murrow from Strongsville, coming to Zips. Has Akron EVER got a kid from St. Ignatius?

I would love to know how the players were selected and find it very interesting that there are only a few players from the west coast. jem101
This is the thread I want to keep alive. What is your preliminary 2011 starting lineup? -------Mattocks-Holmes-------------- ---Trapp-----------------Speas------- ------Brenes-Ontineveros----------- Yedlin---Barson--Gallego---Balogun -------------Meves--------------------- I know it seems ridiculous to not have Caldwell in there after the tournament that he had which ended in him scoring the clinching goal against UL, but if we play a 4-2-2-2 I don't see where he'd fit. Without the incredible leadership of Kitchen I don't think we'll be able to push 3 mids forward like we did last year and I don't see Caldwell as the type of player that can fit into a two attacking mid system. If you only have two attacking mids, they both need to be able to score somewhat consistently.Maybe it's just me, but he seems to be stuck somewhere in the middle of Attacking mid and holding mid. Speas seems to fit into that true attacking mid role a little better.
fknbuflobo
So, you agree that Holmes already has a starting job. I thought all season that Speas showed more quality than Caldwell. I could never understand how Porter played Caldwell over Speas. And then, God bless him, Scotty had one of the best post seasons in Zips history. Go figure! Ontiveros will definitely push for time. I also think Genovese will somehow push for time. Poor Richard Diaz may surface. Who knows. Tulloch? Another thing is that Trapp may very well play the exact same role as Kitchen. I have to see him practice. Good shtuff from you, Jacob M.
bisbee
ESPN Rise lists the following 2 players as tranfers to Akron: Kayvon Afsarifard and Luke Holmes. Anyone know about these guys? Kayvon was reading the thread about us not getting anyone from St. Ignatius and is transferring after a year at Loyola,in Illinois. He is a defender who played in 9 games. I don't know if he is going to come in and start for us or not. http://loyolaramblers.cstv.com/sports/m-so...d_kayvon00.html

Ampaipitakwong is easy to pronounce; it only looks intimidating. However, the San Jose announcer could have a mouthful with Ampaipitakwong to Wondolowski. Could that be the reason Ampai fell to the second round -- opponents discovered he was less intimidating than they thought?
