Hey.........

Nice to have you guys back. Was this an "annual trip" type deal, or didja just take off to chase some sun, :CK_brew: , and tee? How was the game? :john: Who handles who? Doc or Cap'n? :nutkick: Give us a "report".......... :D

Real nice shot on that other thread, sort of from the heart.

You touched a little nerve over there when you mentioned that this and GoZips are the only places we get any news. You're correct. But in addition to that, we've become buddies, and have fun exchanging all sorts of other crap :john: (meaning info about the uni, the board, our communities, UA history, and common NEO sports interests) and it's fun to pop on here and decompress :( from the workday for a few minutes.

The back and forth banter and all the cracking on each other :tomato: is a grin also. No blood, no damage.........right?

ZW........where've you been? I checked out (don't tell the boss ;) ) google for ZipNation yesterday, and we are still way the hell down the list......ZFF had Dreamwater right at the top on Zip Football somehow, and our fun could increase exponentially with more sluggies on board.

Anyone seen ZIPMAN? Not that I'm missing his one tune music anymore ;) , but he kept things moving with his..........kill the (old) staff. :chair: rant. Guess firing all the coaches takes him out of the mix for a while ;)

ZFF.........weren't you going to get us together at a golf outing or something? Maybe we should all hook up when JD puts his first fundraiser together in the summer.........what do you think?

I read the post from MN with interest. If it's true that Jabari is going to see action at WR, I'm geeked. Can't did that last season with their backup QB, and the young man had a great season. It also allowed them some trick sets to sneak up on people. Sort of like the old "Slash" days at 3-Rivers (for you ZFF)................and speaking of that, BTW, did you cats know ZFF is a Stillers guy? Right here in our midst all this time we had an B) imbedded emninie.

Anyone going Saturday? Dude, you coming in? :rolltide: If you are, I'll have to wear my aluminum leiderhausen to the game........... ;)

Padre,

I'm lurking .. been really really busy lately with travel. Writing this from beautiful Salt Lake City. Can a brother get some caffeine help here?! ;)

I've been meaning to get back on the google thing this week or next. The GOOD news is that we're getting hit by the googlebot thingie that indexes sites about every week or so. And getting to where we are on their list is a huge improvement over where we were a month ago. I'm looking into a couple more tweaks to get us up to the top. Funny thing about dreamwater was that it just sort of happened. I submitted the hoops site one time & BAM! it was at the top of the list. I'm not sure what the issue here is, but it's been a tougher climb. We'll get it there ...

I do believe that more sluggies the better .. I'm happy to see there is virtually no activity over at macbbs on the akron board there .. it's all here now .. :gun:

CK,

One note about your comment regarding the UA education stacking against others.

[soap box]

I'm an engineer .. spent a long damn time in school, though NOT at Akron. I'm pretty much tech-track .. still do the nerd thing on a daily basis so I deal with a lot of other eggheads. I'll tell you what most people even locally aren't aware of:

UA is probably the best engineering school in the MAC, IMHO the best undergrad engineering school in the state of OH .. and without a doubt one of the best kept engineering secrets in the midwest. As someone who works with engineers, has a few working for me & every year or so has to hire one .. I'll take an Akron engineer any day. Certainly in my field (mechanical) from an undergrad sense with practical knowledge & expertise, which is really what matters .. a UA grad takes a back seat to no one.

Doubt me? Look up some of the competitions held by SAE (automotive engineers .. not the frat guys with good hair) over the past 10-15 years. In some cases, you'll see total dominance by UA students over opponents from places like Michigan, Stanford, even one of my alma maters Purdue. In most cases, you won't even see Columbus Tech or any other OH school on the list.

[/soap box]

Finally, off topic:

I've been to the mountain top in hoops. I'll post a lot more about this later, but the wife & I took a roadie to the sweet 16 and final 8 in St. Louis a couple of weeks ago. Interacted w/ fans from places like Kansas, Georgia Tech, Nevada and UAB .. and I see what can be at UA .. it's a nice vision. Now that the cars have stopped burning at my undergrad alma mater UConn  , I'll try and relate some of the experience on the hoops board. I've been to a lot of these NCAA games over the years & I'm tired of going as a general hoops addict .. I want to go as the myeopic drunk fan of one of the teams actually playing the games.

:CK_brew:

As for Saturday, I'm hoping to make it, but it may be touch and go. I've got a 2:45 flight out of CLE and haven't seen the family in a few days, so might be a game time call.

15 of us went down to Santee SC for our annual golf trip (12th?). Always a good time. Golf was brutal...Dr. Z and I tore up the courses like the hackers we are...but the intake of Coors Light numbed the pain. Note: We had to sink to the level of Coors Light since there are:

a.) No decent Micro Brews in cans

b.) No decent Micro Brews in the state of South Carolina

I'll be there Saturday morning with the kid. Hope the weather it good!

Wow, lots of Engineers on this board... Me too. I'm up in Detroit and outside of the 2-3 engineering classmates that were fortunate enough to get jobs with the auto companies up here, I know of no other Akron Grads. My co-workers consist mainly of the well known engineering schools, Michigan, Purdue, GMI, etc. I have to say that I have had no problem holding my own. I completely agree with Zip Watcher that UA is one of the best kept secrets in the midwest. I would trade my UA degree for no other.

I second that. I'm studying biomedical engineering at Akron, and I love it. The faculty is awesome, and so are the grad students. Heck with keeping it a secret in the midwest. I want everyone to know what an outstanding program we have here. Thats our whole problem at this university. Everyone just assumes this is a second rate school because it is open admission, and they end up going to schools like OU, MU, and Toledo.

Also, speaking of macbbs, has anyone noticed how that board has turned into a cusa vs mac argument and people wanting schools kicked out? geez! I'm through with that board! Too many idiots!! :tomato:
