Let'sGoZips94
I was watching the Buffalo sports recap show on STO the other day, and I was very surprised to see that U@B has a men's tennis program. Wow. I did not know that. I believe they are the only MAC East school to have a men's tennis team.

Yeah I'm not sure how they do it with Title IX. I thought maybe they didn't have baseball, but they do. They also have men's soccer.
ZachTheZip
Tennis beat Louisville and Cincinnati this weekend to stay undefeated. They're putting together a pretty good start to the season.
ZippyRulz
Also beat Kentucky but still don't appear in the collegetennis.com top 75 rankings (?)
ZachTheZip
Also beat Kentucky but still don't appear in the collegetennis.com top 75 rankings (?) If they win their next two games (#53 Dartmouth, #38 Brown), they will be ranked. It's a tall order, but it's the only way they'll catch the ITA's attention. ZachTheZip
matches Sure. Anyway, they beat Dartmouth today. Win their next match and I would be shocked if still weren't ranked.

GoZips.com story Dartmouth was only 3-6, so Brown will definitely be a stiffer challenge. This is really a remarkable run. Way to go Lady Zips!!! UAZipster0305
Sure. Anyway, they beat Dartmouth today. Win their next match and I would be shocked if still weren't ranked. I meant my correction in a good-natured way. ZtZ, you're one of the most prolific posters on this board and I wouldn't want to do anything to discourage that. The win against Kentucky was huge. From what I can judge, UK is a mid- to top-level tennis program in the SEC. The scheduling has been outstanding...Big Ten (MSU), SEC (UK), Big East (WVU, Cincy, Louisville)...who can ask for anything more? This program is going places. And in an uppity sport like tennis, a win against a nationally-ranked Ivy League opponent is impressive too. I expect Brown to be much more difficult as they are ranked higher and beat us soundly last year. Nonetheless, I think the wins against UK and Dartmouth should be enough to put us in the Top 75. Unless UNM or UNA are exceptionally strong, the only other opponent that should be a struggle to win against this year would be Miami (until the NCAA Tournament, anyhow). Go Zips! UAZipster0305
http://www.itatennis.com/AwardsAndRankings...nkings_2_28.htm Ranked #57. Pretty impressive! Brown #41, Kentucky #74.
ZachTheZip
Tennis signs recruit from PA. Probably the longest article on tennis recruiting I've ever read. Lots of good things to say about Akron.
RootforRoo44
Three tennis players make All-MAC and the 16 year-old freshman gets freshman of the year honors. Btw, the Zips play NIU tomorrow at 3pm in the MAC Tournament.

Z.I.P.
Zips vs. Wildcats Seriously, how many times are we going to face this school in post-season competition? Go Zips! You can do it, ladies!!! "Joining NU and the Zips in Evanston this time around will be Notre Dame and Hawaii. The two winners from Friday will play one another on Saturday. NU and UA will meet for the first time on the tennis court." I'm sure it would also be the first meeting between Akron and Hawaii -- if by some miracle they were to defeat their first round opponents in essentially "visiting team" mode. Good luck Zips (and Wahine Warriors)! Maybe the coaches will meet and schedule a match in Manoa next year (anything's possible!).

ZachTheZip
Bring this thread back from the dead, because Tennis is 23-2 and 7-0 in the MAC. One match left, and it's with Ball State who is 19-2 and also 7-0 in the MAC. BSU also hosts the MAC tournament this year.
ZipsVoice
Good luck to the netters, under-reported in the press as usual. The team has been at the top now for the recent past and hope they finish big.
