acstorfer
I've got to ask! With the unequaled amount of Generation Adidas contracts and the mystifying number of drafts this year, well, is this last years Zips soccer squad the best college soccer team ever? Kinda tough question, especially seeing I kinda think last years team was a better team. Just a great season! Okay, the final outcome sucked, but just a great team. So, was this last Zips soccer squad the best ever in college soccer? If no, then who and why?
ZachTheZip
No. We lost to CSU. No team that loses to CSU can legitimately claim to be the best ever.
zip37
Difficult to compare different eras, but my guess would be YES.
acstorfer
The CSU comment is very true. It can't be described as the best season by any measure. What I mean by best team, I'm kinda talking about the most talented team. If that makes any sense.

I think those are the numbers, and my God, so close! I have to agree, but being so close, but not doing... Ugh, such a great season, but they didn't do it. I think CSU was a fluke, I still got to say 2010 was the most talented ever. They got it done. Either, or. Was there a more talented college soccer team, other than the 2009 or 2010 Zips? I mean really, both seasons were basically an all college all star team!

Let'sGoZips94
I don't know if you can ask yourself this question and not think about the 2009 team. I honestly think that the 2009 team would've won the National Championship game if Nano and Ampai would've been healthy. That being said, they didn't lose a game or tie (until the championship). I think the 2009 team was better than the 2010 team, but the 2010 team beats almost any other team in the history of college soccer.
zip37
2009 2nd place 2010 I'm a bottom-line guy.
jem101
I know that this is completely hypothetical, but what would this 2010 team have looked like if Zakuani, Bunbury and Gavin hadn't left early. Could you even imagine a lineup of: -------Zakuani--Bunbury-------- --Ampai/Nanchoff----Nagbe----- --------Gavin------Kitchen------ --Korb--Barson-Valentin--Kofi- -------------Meves--------------- Just the thought of it is amazing, and really makes you realize just how incredible what Porter has done here is. Everyone usually points out Ampai was out, and forget that Nano was out too.

The 1986 team would have beaten the 2009 team.
