ZachTheZip Posted January 28, 2012 Author Report Posted January 28, 2012 Organized everything by position. Finally. Quote
Buckzip Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 "while it's definitely a long shot, Tennessee is probably the worst team in the SEC." That's like saying you have a good shot at that girl because she is the ugliest of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted January 29, 2012 Author Report Posted January 29, 2012 Three new verbals this morning! Both LBs are from Florida. LB Keionne Baines LB John Rachal WR Josh Smith Quote
Blue & Gold Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Good job, Zach!! Thanks for all the great work! With the players currently enrolled plus the listed verbals, the total comes to 25. So that should about do it, no? Quote
ZachTheZip Posted January 29, 2012 Author Report Posted January 29, 2012 Good job, Zach!! Thanks for all the great work! With the players currently enrolled plus the listed verbals, the total comes to 25. So that should about do it, no? Not quite. RB David Jones de-committed today. Also, I'm still not sure if the FSU transfer is actually coming here. We're at 23 or 24. It will all be cleared up on Wednesday, though. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted January 29, 2012 Author Report Posted January 29, 2012 OG Johnny Caspers commits to Stanford De-commited from Stanford. Back on the board. Quote
Zipmeister Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 OK, how can WR Josh Smith, Western Hills HS be both committed and uncommitted to us? Quote

Zipmeister Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 http://cincinnati.com/blogs/recruiting/201...mmits-to-akron/ Well that explains half of it, but Zach also has him on the uncommitted list. Quote
NewZipsFan Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 Well that explains half of it, but Zach also has him on the uncommitted list. He's ours. Quote

ZachTheZip Posted January 31, 2012 Author Report Posted January 31, 2012 New offer: LB Dillon Kern Quote
KentZip Posted January 31, 2012 Report Posted January 31, 2012 Ianello started recruiting this guy a while ago and finally Jason Stargel Jr is visiting UA this weekend. My bet is he'll commit (Furman seems to be the other school in play). Scouts has him as a commit as of today. Quote
NewZipsFan Posted January 31, 2012 Report Posted January 31, 2012 New offer: LB Dillon Kern Nice INT vs St. Xavier: Quote
ZachTheZip Posted January 31, 2012 Author Report Posted January 31, 2012 Can't update the main list any more thanks to recurring 403 errors. Not even sure if this will post. We're at 25 verbals, but don't be surprised if some aren't actually signing with the Zips and we get some surprises. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted January 31, 2012 Author Report Posted January 31, 2012 As a comparison, Temple has 34 verbals, despite only be allowed to sign 25. They're following the SEC's example of oversigning. Quote
Lee Adams Posted February 2, 2012 Report Posted February 2, 2012 I think next year will be the year for some higher profile recruits. The staff will have more time. AND,if they can win a few games AND with the PUB Akron has been getting, I would expect even more Ohio, Western PA kids to hop on board. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted February 5, 2012 Author Report Posted February 5, 2012 Late commit: LB Dillon Kern verbals to Akron Quote
PB1719 Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 Moeller HS is a good place for Coach Bowden to get his foot in the door. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 Now that the season is underway, I am wondering whether George Thomas (or anyone else) might be able to find out why the following individuals do not show up on the current roster: 1) OL Curtis Black 2) DB Benny Cunningham 3) DL Arlington McClinton 4) OL Kevin Mills 5) DB Josh Smith 6) DL Jason Stargel I'm not trying to be an alarmist. I'm just curious if we can expect to see them eventually or not. I certainly wouldn't want to see a fall-out rate of 6/21 in every class (I realize we added a few late signees like Hakeem Lawrence and Jamel Turner). Quote
Roo2 Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 From reading various items on twitter, it seems as though McClinton is attending classes at Akron. Maybe the issue with him, as well as the others, is that they couldn't qualify this year? If that is indeed the case, hopefully, we will see some of them in the spring. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Thanks for the insight, Roo2! I thought that (qualifying) might be an issue. It's good to know at least one of them is likely still addending UA. Quote
