scottditzen Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Anyone see this? Yesterday around 6:30ish was watching ESPN at the bar. No volume, unfortunately. Glanced up and saw AKRON playing!! Bobby Knight was breaking down game strategy and the segment featured Zips highlights. I remember seeing Steve Mcneese vs. Notre Dame and, I think, Brett McKnight posting up vs. KEN.i.T. There was a white board, and it said something like "Offense: Athletic" or the like. I searched ESPN but the segment isn't up, but I'm betting it will be there later today. Anyhow, it looked very good. And very complimentary to our Zips!!!! Quote

There was also a clip of Darryl Roberts scoring against Can't State. Quote
Dr Z Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Yes, I saw it. The gist of it was how a mid major can beat a high major. Coach Knight said there were three things, patience, run the clock and spread the floor to make the other team defend more area. Also said something about don't pass the ball down low in the corner near the baseline, he said "you mind as well kick the ball up in the stands" Quote
scottditzen Posted March 24, 2011 Author Report Posted March 24, 2011 Very cool....glad you guys saw that!! And you seemed to have comprehended more than me lol. I have a suspicion it will arrive here: http://search.espn.go.com/bob-knight/ Quote
GoZips Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Coach Knight is quite favorably inclined toward the University of Akron. Coach was paid a fee to assist in finding a new head coach when Coleman Crawford was dismissed. He recommended Dan Hipsher an up and coming coach at the time. During Coach Hipsher's tenure Coach Knight was dismissed from Indiana University. In the subsequent aftermath a job was needed for Coach Knight's son Pat. Pat Knight was hired as an assistant under Coach Hipsher. Coach Dambrot was part of that staff. The connection is strong. Coach Knight is also a close friend of Bob Huggins. Not surprised in the least. More, I would say, pleased that Coach Knight blessed the Zips with this presentation. Thank you, coach. Quote
