psc2009
It was rainy across the Midwest today, forcing a handful of schools to make tough calls with their spring game. WMU stayed outside in the rain, Akron went indoors and brought the fans and Buffalo went inside, but had to close the contest because of it. I personally think Akron had the ideal situation, but I understand all three schools reasons. http://themacdaily.com/index.php?news&nid=

American Football has always been played in all weather conditions. There was no lightning, just some rain and it was a little cool. Why WIMP out and move indoors?! Hilltopper
For the fans. Who wants to watch a glorified practice in the pouring rain? Nevermind. Not worth it. Did you go yesterday? I did and it made sense to hold it in the fieldhouse. There was a deluge of rain immediately prior to the start of the game. I had to walk past the INFO and the field was like a swamp. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/in...es_final_s.html For Can't there were five fumbles in the rain at Dix Stadium, four lost, and enough missed scoring opportunities in the red zone to make the small crowd feel like nothing has changed for a team that finished 5-7 last season. http://www.ohio.com/sports/119996469.html Rain, rain go away For those fans who braved the cool and wet weather, umbrellas were a necessity as the sprinkles at the beginning of the game soon turned into a downpour toward the end of the first 12-minute quarter. There's no doubt that rain played a factor in a series of fumbles as the Blue Team had just gotten a first down when senior running back Washington fumbled the handoff from Keith. Defensive lineman Lee Stalker recovered the ball.

Yes, I stood in the rain and watched the soccer team play outside on Schrank Field. Are you telling me that the field in Infocision was worse than the practice field at Schrank? That is NOT good news. I can almost understand issues in the east goal at Cub Cadet Field since it is grass and was newly installed last season...they need to work out those issues. But, Summa Field unplayable in a downpour?!
infofan
I must agree, it was very windy and very rainy. And the whole point of the spring game is evaluation. Why risk blown field goals/PATs ( we can miss them anyway!) as well as slips, falls, and fumbles in inclement weather when we have a facility next door fully useable. But lets please have the guy with net/goalpost duty practice a little or actually pay attention to the scrimmage next time!!
