Captain Kangaroo Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 Interesting snippet:In recent months, their work has included scrutiny of the Can't football program. Coming off the 2004 season, where the Golden flushes won their final four games, they were just 1-10 in 2005.Cartwright was involved with the decision to hire former college coach Jim Young as a consultant. Starting next week, he will take an unbiased look at the football team.Young went 120-71-2 as coach at Arizona, Purdue and Army. In 1999, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Kennedy said Young's consulting fee will range between $5-10,000.``We're making it very clear that we want the unvarnished assessment,'' Cartwright said, ``and we intend to make changes.''************************************************************************Jim Young's assessment: "Quit sucking so bad. God damn you guys absolutely suck. Cut it out. Get better. Sucking is no way to generate fan support. Also - stop arresting your alumni for open container violations in your stadium parking lots. They really don't like being arrested. It deters them from attending future games. Oh, and those bright banana-yellow uniforms. Feel free to beat whomever designed those with a blunt object. Then, beat the clown that approved them."Oh, and please make the check payable to "Captain Kangaroo." Quote
Quickzips Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 Things to add:Until you can actually put more than 3,000 people in a high school stadium you guys may just want to let yours (high school stadium that is) sit empty and rent out a Pop Warner field. There is a position in football called Running Back, you guys might want to try recruiting one. See what happens. Couldn't possibly hurt.Speaking of recruiting, if you guys would like to try that it might not hurt either.Just because a guy can throw a baseball doesn't mean he can throw a football.<btw, my advice comes a LOT cheaper, in fact I will offer to advise the program for $5,000 a year as opposed to the $10,000 that you are paying Captain there> Quote

Captain Kangaroo Posted January 19, 2006 Author Report Posted January 19, 2006 CK,Like your posts, especially this one, but why the Terry Pluto pic?--Mikeblogs.ohio.com/rasor A couple reasons:1.) I needed an author for "The 5 People You Meet at Can't Football Games." I figured he would be the obvious choice to write such a book.2.) Irony. I am not a big fan of his columns. Quote
