tbozeglav
Article Great article... especially in helping to explain why these conference realignments have happened. it never really made complete sense until now. As far as our zips go... well... the future doesn't look bright
GP1
As far as our zips go... well... the future doesn't look bright We CAN have an extremely bright future. Just not the way we thought it would be 5 years ago. Our football world is changing and we just have to be open to making the best out of our situation. Dave in Green
Wow. Select the 200-mile circle on the Hotspot Statistics Map, click in the center of Ohio, and be prepared for a shock. While it's true that UA has less than 10% of the fans of tOSU, UA is second in the state, ahead of Cincinnati and every other college football team. Can't is dead last among Ohio teams. Imagine how much growth there could be if we only had a consistent winner. Note that if you click off center that the fan breakdown stats change, and Cincinnati comes out ahead of UA if you bias the 200-mile circle to the south and west

Its truly unfortunate. 5 years ago we thought that with a better coach in place we could really start making a splash in our corner of the pond. Now it seems like we're just a fish out of water. We all know where its gone terribly wrong... the question is if thats going to cost our program a lot in the long run. My gut feeling is yes, my hope is no. Here's the link for the mileage circle maps. I could play with this all day long, but the boss might walk in... Some amazing and fascinating conundrums, like how do schools like Cincinnati and Toledo draw so well, with such relatively small fan bases? And how does Akron do SOOOOOO poorly, with a bigger one? Hilltopper
Thanks, Dave! I think they confuse someone who attended the university, with someone who is a fan. They are not necessarily the same group.
johnnyzip84
Nice find, GP. Like Z.I.P. alluded, this map is addictive to any college football fan.
ZachTheZip
Take the survey (on the right) to contribute to that map. The more representation from Akron fans, the better.
