FIU game thread - for those NOT at the game!

Just got done mowing in time to bring up the webcast of the game and watch our td drive. Moore looks like he has a good advantage scrambling with the ball against these slower, non-top 25 teams. Nice pass to the full back... just let it go and let your players make a play.

Also, although the 1350 audio doesn't sink up, nice overall job with the webcast.

Ummm...my webcast quit at the end of the 1st quarter. It says "Stream not found" now. Anyone else able to watch?

I'm in & out here. How did we score our TD?

Multiple Moore scrambles, a big 20+ yard gain from the Chisel, a bullet pass to the FB at the 1, culminating with a Chisel dive into the endzone. Looked like a real team on that drive.

Also the first time I've gotten to see the zips other than at OSU... there's alot more formations in this offense than one would believe listening to the "Pro set sucks" crowd.

I love these 1 yard runs with under 5min left. Ianello is a genious!!! NO one saw that coming, catch them off guard. Might as well take a knee there, no one would expect that either

...and moore is terrible! He had a wide open wr in the endzone and overthrew it, then fumbled the next play.

I have news for you. We probably would have gottten shut out yesterday, if not for his individual effort to carry us to victory.

I'd like to see his efficiency improve. He overthrew that ball in the end zone because he had to throw it early because he was about to get hit. I think everyone else in the stadium saw that.

Moore is a better runner than passer. At this point, looking at that and how our offensive talent is distributed, the team would be best off running a Flexbone offense.

Maybe so. Who knows when someone has played only a handful of games in their career. But in specifically addressing yesterday's game, his ability to elude rushers to get more time to throw, and his ability to use his feet to pick up yardage in open spaces downfield, are probably the only reasons that we put any points on the board at all yesterday.

But again, his passing efficiency needs to get better, even though it still stacks up favorably to what we endured last year. It might seem hard to put that kind of pressure on a new QB when the OL has deteriorated into a complete disaster, and he is playing with such a green drop of receivers, but I still think any QB should be able to complete at least half of their passes under any circumstances....MINIMUM.

I agree 50% is a minimum. But when 7 balls are batted down or deflected at the line of scrimmage (VMI game) it will be hard to complete 50%. I want to see how Moore develops and learns from mistakes. Yesterday only one ball was batted or deflected at the LOS (turned into an interception). He probably has never had to deal with finding passing lanes and throwing over defensive linemen. That is an issue this year. Let's see how he handles it. Based on yesterday...he is making progress. He was very aggressive on out/flat routes and was victimized by interceptions...especially in the Cincy game. Since then...I have seen him throw the ball away from defenders (down and away on out patterns) and on the outside shoulder on corner routes (Sconiers turned in against EMU and cost us a TD...but the throw was away from the defender and correct). It has eliminated interceptions (except for a deflected ball). For me...I see continued improvement. I see him go through his progression (when he has time) to find second and third receivers. What I think he needs to still improve on is looking defenders off the primary receiver and hitting his outlet receiver (usually RB) in stride to give better chance for yards after catch.

BTW... throwing the ball down and away limits interceptions but reduces yards after catch. I did not see any yards after catch yesterday. But I did see some well throw balls downfield of more than 35-40 yards. Do not see the issue CK and Dr Z were talking about regarding YAC inflating his numbers. IMO…he has a strong enough arm for Div1 football.
