bisbee
This reply was from a post I put on BigSoccer about how the Michigan loss would affect our RPI: Judging from GauchoDan's (approximate) RPI, they're still #7, so they must've been pretty far ahead of the teams behind them. w00t
If Carolina beats Maryland Friday night, six of the top seven will have posted a loss this week. Frustrating because we could have gained some ground, but at least we probably didn't lose much. UC-Irvine dropped two matches.
bisbee
College Soccer News does a bracket projection based on the current RPI - kind of like what ESPN does all year for basketball. Always fun to see how things might shape out:http://collegesoccernews.com/index_files/Page5248.htm

Pleased to see NIU included, especially since this is after we played and beat them.
bisbee
An "Akron Region" is still possible but alot needs to happen.
zippyfan34
An "Akron Region" is still possible but alot needs to happen.I hope for a top 4 seed but we need to make sure we get a top 8. Then if the 1 team ahead of us slips up and loses one of its 2 home games it would then become an "Akron Region" and we would have home field for the elite 8 contest. There is plenty of history supporting top 8 (if not top 4) teams winning it all. Outside top 8 is much more problematic. Where are our stats people on this? Where are our stats people on this?I was curious about this too so I did a little research. The last ten Champs and their initial seeding:2010: Akron #32009: UVA #22008: UMD #22007: Wake Forest #22006: UCSB Unseeded2005: UMD #12004: IU #22003: IU #82002: UCLA #32001: UNC #7So it does appear that a top 8 seed is pretty important. Top four even more so.
