Z-Pouch Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 Yes, you won the game and protected your home court but you couldn't protect your court from our fans. A much bigger victory in the big picture. Watch and we will show you what a little marketing, creative thinking and MAC championships can achieve -- something you can't even grasp after all of your 20 win seasons. "Fear this" - I'd be embarrassed to wear the knock off.........UAM AK Rowdies An instant classic. I have never seen anything like it and doubt it can be repeated or beaten. Although you never know with UAM and the AK Rowdies, You announced us before the game. You appreciated our pregame Can't State cheers. You were horrified when we changed shirts. We were louder then your fans. We owned your own arena. We embarrassed your studentsAND We will get payback on March 4th at the JAR and if your unlucky enough at the Q.-------------------------------If you haven't heard the entire "Stark County Kents Students" story, I'll let others fill in the blanks. But we should all be very proud, an absolutely incredible coup to pull off.My hat is off to everyone involved. Years from now, I'll remember this more then any score or play on 2/4/06.Can't Akron :macc: Quote

Quickzips Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 'twas a beautiful thing it was. Quote
zippyrifle32 Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 is it that you're not supposed to talk about it? Quote
Quickzips Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 Ok, I'll budge. Here is the low down on what went on.11:45 the Rowdies met in the JAR and were given T-shirts with K3nt State University on them on the inside. On the outside was Can't along with things like read or write, win the wagon wheel, and guard your own student section. We were told that we would be infiltrating the Can't student section. Our cover was that we were from the Can't State Stark County Campus. We headed out about 12:30 on two buses and a caravan of cars and got into the MACC around 1:00. We sat at the top of their student section under the awning and on the one end of general admission chanting things like "Screw the Roo" and "K S U" Playing it up, putting on a good show. We booed when the zips came out, cheered when the flushes came out. They even announced over the PA system something along the lines of "We would like to welcome our visiting friends from the Can't State Stark County campus" It was downright hilarious. So the game starts and the first four minutes we are Can't fans, screaming and cheering wildly for Can't. Then at the first media time out comes a big old "AK" "ROWDIES" and we all start flipping our shirts over to reveal the Can't side. Although I am sure many of their students knew or at least suspected there was still a look of "what the hell is going on here" on many a Can't students face. Their cheering section never really got going again until around midway through the second half when they tied it up. Meanwhile the Rowdies were lighting it up with things like "Why so quiet?" "There's no scoreboard" (If you didn't know their scoreboard is broken) "Fear the Roo" and ofcourse "AK ROWDIES" Only thing that could have made it better was getting out with a win but I am definitley keeping that T-shirt as a momento of the day we infiltrated the Can't State Student Section. zippyrifle32 Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 damn...that was prety creative. i top my hat off to whoever thought of that! i wish i could have been there to experience that. it'll be interesting to see what they'll try to do. it can't be much because you need to swipe your zip card for the primo student section. msopher Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 I heard about the prank AK-Rowdies pulled on Can't State and all I have to say is: Quote
dclear2k Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 while it was a good idea and all, (one that will go down as pretty creative) maybe think of something more relavent because if I remember correctly K E N T 8-0 vs. UA "Cant beat us" should prolly be used in terms of football b/c I personally am embarrassed for K E N T's FB program...but in BBall We pretty much have owned u guys the last few years Quote
mrelegazna Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 As awesome as this stunt was, it may be even more awesome than you think...the commentators on Fox Sports Ohio glowingly acknowledged the prank TWICE. That alone was worth all the money I've paid directv each month to still get FSO from outside the region. Quote
LosAngelesZipFan Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 So this is incredibly creative and fun-- how could this not get mentioned in any story, not one, anywhere? Geesh. Quote
RobC2 Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 A BRILLIANT and unprecedented move!!! A sure-to-be-legendary prank of Van Wilder proportion!!!AK-Rowdies own SUK!!! Go Zips! Quote
Sloopy Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 It was in the game notes section of the Sunday Beacon Journal! Quote
Zipsrifle Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 I'm willing to bet that for the Can't vs. Akron game at the JAR, the Can't students will come up with this novel idea...... Probably something along the lines of wearing Akron shirts but turn them inside out about 3 minutes into the game! AK-ROWDIES in ONE YEAR have become the premier student spirit group in the MAC!
