mes102 Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 I don't have a problem with the 2 point conversion call. I have a problem with the play they chose for the 2 point conversion though...A Playaction rollout??!?!?!?!!! REALLY?!?!?!?!?!?!? Quote
ZachTheZip Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Interesting that Ianello and his assistants were argueing constantly over the scoring decisions today. I wonder who made the call to go for 2 after the first TD, and who wanted to kick the FG down by 14. We might see a bunch of assistants fired after the season. If we're not going to fire Ianello, then I hope it was the coordinators making the boneheaded decisions because they can be replaced mroe easily than the head coach. And I hope they do get replaced if that's the case. Quote

Dave in Green Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Ianello explained both 2-point conversion attempts in the post-game radio interview, which I just addressed in the other game thread:2-Point Decisions Quote

If every assistant who got caught up in a firing couldn't get a job after, there wouldn't be enough guys coming into the profession to replace them. The key is to get out of Akron before the stink becomes too strong. Quote

Lee Adams Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 Wow. On one hand, Moore was red hot on the last two drives, but on the other hand, we had all the momentum going into OT if we kicked it. I don't know about that.Coaches singlehandedly lose very few games. Ianello lost this one. I wouldn't be able to look my players in the eye.meh. He gave them the chance to win it, and they didn't. I don't think there was a wrong choice between going for it or kicking it. Everyone would be praising the call if he caught it.It seemed to the folks in our section that Ianello didn't give them the BEST chance to win. Players win games not coaches. Let them get the ball in OT and keep pushing CMU around like they did most of the second half. Even if they had made the 2 the decision can still be questioned. Quote
