zips4ever2008 Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 Zips play Northwestern at home on Nov. 17. No first round bye and we are not seeded. Quote
bisbee Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 Great bracket for us. Bring on Northwestern Quote
ZachTheZip Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 What about NIU? Gotta support the other MAC school, at least until we meet. Quote
Dave in Green Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 Saw on the broadcast that UA is rated as a "sleeper." Let's just hope they mean that in the positive sense! Well, here's the revenge match that everyone wanted. If the Zips can't get up for this one, they're in suspended animation. I sure hope there's a darn good poor weather plan in place this time. Quote
Dave in Green Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 If the Zips win, they will travel to Texas to play SMU. Quote
jem101 Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 What about NIU? Gotta support the other MAC school, at least until we meet. NIU has Western Illinois. Winner takes on #2 Creighton. Quote
bisbee Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 Let's hope First Energy-Cub Cadet is rocking on Thursday night. No excuse if you are in the area not to be there. Any one know about internet coverage/radio? Quote

Rough draw with Creighton, but they should win the 1st round game. They should be happy to get a fellow Illinois directional school. Might boost attendance and you get bragging rights. Quote
Dave in Green Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 Early weather forecast for Akron is cloudy on Tuesday, showers Wednesday morning, and then clearing and partly cloudy Wednesday afternoon through Friday night. So the field should be in decent shape Thursday evening. High on Thursday, however, is expected to be only 41. So it will probably be in the 30s at game time. Quote
bisbee Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 I have a really good feeling about this one. I think we get victory number 1 of the 6 game win streak on thursday. Quote
TennZip Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 The seed in the tourney that really surprised me was Indiana at #16. Northwestern won the Big Ten regular season and big ten tourney. They tied indiana in late October and beat IU on penalty kicks in tourney ....and IU is #16 and Northwestern is #38 I think the Zips will beat Northwestern....but Indiana must own someone on the selection committee. Dave in Green Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 National Weather Service is now reporting a very slight chance of a few snow flurries in Akron on Wednesday night. If it falls, it would not stick as the ground is too warm and the high Thursday is expected to be around 40. But it is a little spooky to see any chance of snow pop up the week Northwestern is heading this way. Quote
UAZipster0305 Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 WOW, I TOTALLY CALLED THIS ONE!!! See the thread from a few days ago. Put me down for a 2-1 Zips win with Mattocks and Holmes getting the goals. Other than the defense giving up a late goal, we will be in full post-season form. Quote
Soccershins Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Bracket: http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soc...visionid-1/2011 I think it's chalk for the Zips until meeting UConn in the Quarters. Quote
clevezip Posted November 15, 2011 Author Report Posted November 15, 2011 http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soc...-Field-Selected "Some notable first round matchups for this Thursday begin with Northwestern, the Big 10 regular season and tournament champion, playing defending national champion Akron. Really? I mean, really? Akron is not same team as last year, but with three losses, they are not exactly an also-ran. You have to look at Northwestern at the end of the league season as one of the best teams in the country. This game shouldn't be happening until later in the season." By Robert Ziegler, ESNN Quote
Z.I.P. Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Here's a printable bracket, all! BTW -- where the heck is Hoover Alabama, anyway? Is that the non-union town North Canton moved to? Quote

Dr Z Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 If I were Northwestern's coach, whomever that is, I would play this for my team right before the game. I would guess he already downloaded it, has it on a laptop and has the projector packed. Porter's speech to the team: Quote
