Zips Battle USC for Punter

Recommended Posts

Punting candidate: USC is recruiting former Arizona State punter Greg Woidneck as a walk-on to join the team next season. Woidneck transferred from Arizona State to Mt. San Antonio Community College before last season and averaged 39.5 yards per punt. He is also being recruited by Akron. USC would like Woidneck, who attended Brea-Olinda High School, to join current walk-on Taylor Odegard and compete for the starting job.

It's cool we'd beat you guys up at Toledo anyday for players so I'm not too worried about it. Try and get any player to go see your facilities then come look at the facilities in Akron and it's a laughing matter. I've seen both and I can understand why I can't find a link to Toledo's weight-room facility and practice fields on their site. HAHA... I wish we could play that cocky team up north every year. http://gozips.collegesports.com/genrel/011005aaa.htmlTHE FUTURE...MARKJACKSONACTION200.JPGSEANHAKES6_30200.JPGAARISREEDNIKE150.JPG257304.jpgCURISBROWNNIKE200.JPGANDREBOONENIKE200.JPGDANTEYCLINENIKE1200.JPGWAYNECOBHANNIKE200.JPG

First of all, we are not, "up North," we are West of you. Secondly, we get the top players and have the top teams because we have the tradition of winning and the top coaching staff in the MAC. Why go and play at the Condom Bowl in front of 6,000 fans and Public Access TV and pray for a 7-6 or 6-5 season when you can go to Toledo and play in front of sellout crowds and be on National TV 5-6 times a year and average going 9-3 a year and go to bowl games? The rest of the MAC is tired of hearing about your practice facility. Big deal. Like I have said before, Can't has one that is equally as nice and it does not seem to help them.

http://www.collegefootballnews.com/mac/200.../Recruiting.htmLast year you guys were talking about how great College Football News is because they had you with a great class. Now, in all likelihood, you will talk about how little CFN knows about recruiting because you are ranked so low. That makes two publications that has your class ranked very, very low.

Actually ToledoRocket: Toledo is west northwest of Akron. In addition: I think that you have a very good program, and I would love to see you guys win the MAC championshipif the Zips don't, I've been a fan of the Rockets since the days of John Brisker. Do you know the name? Hint-- think basketball. :D With ball ammunition lock and load.

Two More CommitmentsJanuary 26, 2006 UConn football coach Randy Edsall added to his defensive and special teams this week when defensive end Lindsey Witten and kicker/punter Desi Cullen made oral commitments. Witten, 6 feet 5, 210 pounds, out of Glenville High School in Cleveland had committed to Toledo in early October but backed out to go with UConn. Witten joins Shawn Lemon of Waldorf, Md., as defensive ends to commit to UConn. *********************************************************************************************************************Update: Lemon rebuffed the Huskies in favor of the Zips on signing day!Hey Rockette....it is pretty obvious...Big East schools are stealing recruits from Toledo while Akron is stealing recruits from Big East schools. Sucks to be you...which I sure is the reason you hang around the Akron board so frequently. I would too if I were in your shoes.

Oh that explains why for the past two years we've been #1 in the MAC. Oh my bad I forgot you won the MAC this year, I know why cause you didn't WE DID!!! I'll give you 'Stutz cause he's a talented coach. But news flush Gradkowski is gone. Let's see how you guys do this year and how Akron does. hahaYou Guys are the PAST... Word is that UConn pulled their offer!

Who Cares if they "pulled" the offer. Toledo lost a guy to UConn, Akron got a commitment from a former UConn commit. We win you Lose simple as that. You should be more concerned about your QB position for next year rather than some DE you lost.As for us... we've had that covered and will for a long whilePastfrye5-lg.jpgPresent_dsc0460.jpgFutureSEANHAKES10_5200.JPG

How long you guys going to be living the glory days of Charlie Frye? You guys seem to forget that we always, always have had great quarterbacks. If you are a great program, you will not need to worry about transitioning a new one in. You guys act like the only good quarterback we have ever had was Gradkowski. And this whole attempt at "reasoning" regarding UCNN and recruits is horrible. Did you guys even go to college? That is not how simple reasoning works. But, I would not expect you guys to understand that. If the same athlete de-commited Toledo, commited to UConn and then changed his mind for Akron, you would have a case. But this kid's offer was pulled from UConn. So really, you got a kid that UConn did not want. It is like this kicker...he is being asked to walk-on to USC and you guys are offering him a full scholarship. All you can really say, in these two instances, is that you got a kid that UConn threw away and you may or may not give a scholarship to a kid that a PAC-10 school is asking to walk-on.

1st Question: In the past 10 years how many QB's has Toledo had start in the NFL? And/or start as a Rookie in the NFL at QB for that matter? 2nd Question (which you failed to answer, did a good job avoiding it though):Who is going to replace Bruce "The Great" Gradkowski??? The reason I push the question is because I have seen your back-up in action and I know who you guys are pickig up this year, I can't find the answer. Figure a TOledo fan would have that answer to give me, so...You don't have to worry about us "living in the glory days of Charlie Frye" you need to worry about who we've got for the FUTURE..._dsc0037.jpgSEANHAKES10_5200.JPG257304.jpg_dsc0120.jpg_dsc0022.jpgEnough Said (You're just Lucky I couldn't find a picture of D.J. Henderson haha)

I have to give it to toledorocket for never getting the facts in the way of his posts. From 99-03 we had 28 wins and form 00-04 we had 27. Once again you prove yourself incapable of providing any useful discussion. Ask mommy for a sippy cup and sit quietly watching Thomas the Tank Engine. :macc:

Vandelay is a Rockets fan and he rates the Zips class as #1...http://www.vandelaysports.com/football/rec...2006/akron.html"Final Analysis It was truly an incredible year for JD Brookhart and his Zips. Several publications listed his 2005 recruiting class #1 in the MAC and he guided Akron to their first ever MAC championship and a bowl game this fall. The magic carpet ride continues as Akron has been rated the top MAC recruiting class in almost every published source, including VanDelaySports. The Zips signed speed, size and talent at every position and certainly rates as OUTSTANDING compared to the other conference schools this year."

My mistake. The funniest part of all this is that you actually are arguing about 28 or 27 wins in a FIVE YEAR period, as if it is some great accomplishment! Like I said, unfortunately for you guys, that IS ALL YOU HAVE TO POINT towards. Oh how sad it would be to be sitting here trying to figure out if 26 wins in 5 years is, or is not, our best five years ever! I mean, seriously, 30-wins in 5 years is only averaging 6 wins a year and you can't find 5 consecutive years where you won 30 frickin games!Oh to celebrate mediocrity!

I merely pointed out the fact that you don't know what you are talking about. We don't
"POINT towards"
that, it's in the past much like your rockets. We are building on it. We are the MAC champs and you are not! We are getting better and you aren't. Your signing was ok since you picked up a zip recruit or two but ours was number one in the MAC for a second straight year. You have nothing to bring to the table, and that is the saddest and sorriest part of your posts. :nono::P:laugh_up: Come better prepared if you want to post here! :macc: :macc: :macc:

01-05 at Toledo: 44 wins, 2 MAC titles, 1 MAC Runner-up, 3 Bowl Games, 20 National TV Appearances, 21,500 fans per game.01-05 at Akron: 28 wins, 1 MAC title, 1 Bowl Game, 4 National TV Apearances, 12,000 fans per game.No comparison. And forget about the recruiting class rankings as two publications have you at the bottom half of the MAC. In addition, the only thing that matters is wins and losses so let's see where this "great" class of your is in four years! My guess is averaging 7 wins a year. Hey, maybe you guys will be in a position one day to talk about 35 wins in five years!!!!!! wooohoooo!

The future is here and it is now at Akron. I dunno what is gonna happen at Toledo, and I really don't care. I am sure toledorockets will keep me updated, however. I am absolutely amazed at how worried he is about the Zips. He tells us we suck, but he can't stay away. Go Zips! :macc:
