bUAkronG
this just proves how Jekyll & Hyde this team will be. We have seen flashes of greatness in the MSU and Detroit games and times of piss-poor play like Valpo and the first half today. The way this game started out I thought we were going to keep it close to the end but now I'll be happy if we lose by 15 or less.
Blue & Gold
Is it too late to send Nik to Serbia to play pro? I think the team will be better without him. And do we do any free throw shooting at practice? +1. With this new team, he and Nitro actually look like the odd men out. Egner too. Michael Green goes w/o saying. RowdyZip
This would at least be a game if we had a legit pg. Rico, get your head out of your ass.
UAZip0510
I know all you law and order guys are going to jump on me, but... WE FIRED OUR STARTING QUARTERBACK. Poof goes the football program. Now we suspend the starting PG AND the second leading rebounder (and strongman inside). Are they fucking kidding me? We aren't Can't State University. If our guys fuck up, we hold them accountable. It sucks watching this, but that's on the players. I hope Abreu and Treadwell get shit from their teammates all the way home for not doing what they needed to do to be a part of the TEAM tonight. AA makes a BIG difference on this team. Q's doing an admirable job. But even WVU's announcers have mentioned, oh, I'd say 3 times already, that Akron's playing without a true PG right now. Derrt
The team is not full of themselves. With Tree and AA being gone our rotation is all messed up. When we had tree against Detroit we stayed fresh the whole game. Leadership from the upper class is at a all time low compared to last year. Quickzips
Three things we need to start doing in the second half to have a chance to climb back into this: 1) Ditch the full-court pressure. It hasn't worked for us all season. We've gotten torched by it multiple times tonight and it isn't working at all. 2) Throw in some zone looks on the defensive end. WVU is having too many easy looks inside and going to the basket. Need to take that away from them. 3) Let someone other than Diggs bring the ball up the court. Quincy isn't doing terrible once we are in the halfcourt, but getting the ball up the court has been a struggle for him. Have Nik, Harney, Nitro, Walsh, someone else bring the ball up the court, then hand off to Q to set up the offense.

Bullshit You can't compete by looking for ways to kick guys off the team. This is a total load of crap. In the past they suspended Humpty and Brett M. Enough already. What did they do that justifies destroying the entire team?

That half had nothing to do with guys being "fresh", it had everything to do with a team that didn't show up ready to play. If we collapsed like that down the stretch in the second half you could talk to me about guys not being "fresh". We still played 9 guys in that half. A lot of teams barely play 7 or 8. What did they do that justifies destroying the entire team? Thank you Mrs. Abreu/Treadwell. Now go tell your son to get his butt to class and work on his homework so he can start playing again. Alex and Tree screwed up. You screw up in life, you pay the consequences. Bottom line. It has nothing to do with trying to win one game in Morgantown or put together an NCAA run. There is more to this game than simply going out on the court a couple times a week for a couple months and competing.

UAZip0510
What happened to Nik? His passion and energy has turned into whining and pouting. What happened to the kid who would run through a wall to get a rebound or a loose ball? Where did the player go who provided so much on-court energy? When he decided to come back, I looked at him as the missing piece. Right now, that feels pretty silly.

Responsibility for suspensions is on the PLAYERS, not the coaches or the athletic department.

Blue & Gold
I think I'd just sit Nitro and give his minutes to Gilliam in the hope of getting Gilliam more comfortable on the court. Nitro's a liability against these more athletic teams. Gilliam's ceiling is much higher.
Blue & Gold
I hope this suspension is really disappointing to Tree & that he learns from it. He had, as we all know, some discipline issues in high school. I'm sure Dambrot was tempted to just let Tree play (we desperately needed him tonight). But KD, as always, did the right thing. Again, I hope this helps Tree in the long run.

Quickzips
Well I've had enough headaches for one night. Time to go take some Advil and try to put this one out of my mind. This team (and Zeke on an individual level) will never reach it's full potential until we learn to consistently play defense without fouling. Blue & Gold
ZEKE IS A FOUL OUT MACHINE Personally, I think Zeke needs to stop focussing so much on blocking shots. It's cool and all when he gets a block, but generally it simply gets him out of good defensive positioning. I wish Zeke would quit jumping & leaving his feet in order to block shots, keep his feet on the ground & just extend his arms to alter shots. That's sufficient. That way he'd also keep his positioning for rebounding. For 7'0" he doesn't get enough rebounds. I think it's directly attributable to his shot-block fixation.
