Blue & Gold
I love the defense Gilliam is playing. No offense to Nitro, but keep him on the bench!
Blue & Gold
Well, Nitro's back out there & Gilliam's riding the pine. Nitro's not an offensive threat but is a defensive liability.

Quickzips
Yet again, terrible end game management from KD losses us this ballgame. Gilliam is pestering CSU's guards and forcing turnovers, so lets take him out and put Nitro back in who has been invisible all game. Then we have the lead by a mere 2 points and we start trying to take the air out of the ball. 35 second violation results. Then we are down 3 coming out of a TO with 11 seconds left. Tree is out there, which was dumb in the first place because CSU is just going to foul as soon as he gets the ball. But they don't, so what do we have drawn up? A 3 from tree in the corner? Brilliant. I guess you can say this was a better all around effort, but the end result still sucks. This team still has a long way to go. Gotta hit the free throws though.....that hurts.

Gcc
Tree and Zeke had 31 of the 66 points. Diggs can't go an entire half without scoring and have 5 turnovers. Gotta guard the perimeter better. Too many open threes today. Everybody has to play well for us to win. But I think we will get there! johnnyzip84
It absolutely sucks losing to CSU. Only losses to K.E.N.T. hurt any more than this. But at least the end result was a huge upgrade from what we've experienced lately. Hopefully the Zips can take the good from today, eliminate or minimize the bad, and get on a roll heading into MAC play.

akronzips71
Time for a reality check: HARNEY COST US THIS GAME. I HOPE HE IS PROUD OF HIMSELF And I can make such a brash statement because: *He is our leading scorer *He has great chemistry with Tree and feeds him great passes for the bunny or the dunk *He is pretty good on defense *There is NO DOUBT in my mind that he scores 4 points. And we win. Done. WTF is up with these guys? When was the last time we played a game without one of our key players on suspension? If they don't cut it out, our season is doomed. tpsjugglerdude
Just got back form CSU. A few thoughts: 1. Tree was fantastic. Every time he was on the court the Zips played better. The only negative was that he missed 2 dunks and couldn't hit a free throw. 2. There has been talk on this board about who the leader of the Zips will be. I think it will be Tree. He got in everyone's ear after every foul. At one point after Walsh committed a silly foul which caused a time out, you could hear Tree yelling Brian's name chasing him down the court to set Walsh straight. 3. Zeke was great and was great from the free throw line. The CSU fans behind us started talking about how Zeke was probably the greatest free throw shooter of true center of all time and started comparing him to Dwight Howard lol. They were also convinced that he was the MAC poty last year. 4. It seemed like #3 for CSU could not miss a 3. 5. Good contingent of Akron fans made the trip. 6. Considering CSU is #1 in the nation in 3-pt defense, akron shot 5-9 from distance.
Dave in Green
Just back from my first experience at the Wolstein Center. Not a bad place. It's far from state-of-the art. But at least the sight lines were decent. As disappointing as the loss was, it should be noted that the Zips were playing a team that is currently ranked in the top 40 in the country on their homecourt, the Zips were without their leading scorer, and the Zips only true PG was obviously still hampered in his lateral movement by his well-wrapped knee. Even with that adversity, the Zips could have won this one if they hadn't made some key mistakes in the last few possessions. A consolation is that the Zips proved again as they did at Mississippi State that they can play close on the road with a top team. But they need all their players suited up and healthy to get the job done. Zeke had one of his most complete games as a Zip. He was aggressive without too many fouls, and when he did foul, he showed no change in expression. On plays that went wrong, where he normally shows frustration, he had the body language of a winner. This is the Zeke we dream of seeing in every game. Tree tried to carry the team on his shoulders in front of the Cleveland crowd. For a guy with only one season of HS basketball and 5 games of college experience going into this one, he was awesome. He made some silly mistakes, not the least of which was the wide open missed jam. But without his overall performance in this game, the Zips would not have been in a position to pull out a win in the final minutes. The CSU fans sitting behind us kept saying, "That Treadwell is killing us." I think it's going to take the rest of the season for this Zips team to reach full potential. They have a lot of work to do on the rough edges. Several of the players have some growing to do. But if they can stay healthy, stay out of trouble and minimize the silly errors, they are going to be one tough team come MAC tournament time. akronzips71
I had a torn meniscus last year. Before I had the surgery I need a cane to walk. I don't know how AA can play. But he will have to have surgery, it won't heal itself. As long as the ACL is not torn he can recover, but from my personal experience, it is quite possible that he will twist the wrong way and be lost for the season. That stuff floating around in there HURTS.
