GP1
Just heard on ESPN JT is going to retire at the end of this season. JT is the greatest Zip and I believe should be a first ballot hall of famer in five years. See everyone in Canton....

It would be fitting if the Zips retired his number and brought him in for a ceremony.

Everyone knows Jason Taylor, either from his football career or Dancing With the Stars. The only question is: which game to do it. Since the home opener with Bowden will likely be a near sell-out anyway, I'd say schedule the jersey retirement and ceremony for the SECOND home game this fall. (Only snafu would be, it would be nice to have his former coach, Lee Owens, on hand. Wonder if Ashland and Akron schedules, day/time/etc., can be worked out?) Big Zip
If JT wasn't a Florida guy now it would be pretty sweet to add him to Bowden's staff. Hoping we can at least get him here to talk to the team at least once a year.

They shouldn't spend much time worrying about if LO can make it or not. The Ring of Honor Day they did for JT was great. When he makes the Hall of Fame, they should do something for him the first home game of that fall. I don't know what to do as he is already in the Ring of Honor, but they can figure something out. Good post. I don't know what else we could possibly do since he has already been honored with the whole on-field ceremony, etc. And I think this was great that we did this at the height of his career, when he was a at his Defensive MVP years. And, thanks for saving me the time to remind everyone that he was one of Gerry's boys. If I remember correctly, he was only wtih Lee his last year here. ZipRoo
It's impossible to tell from UA or GoZips whether Jason's number is retired. He and Angeloff are the only "players" in the Ring of Honor, which is not even mentioned anywhere on GoZips.com. I had to read about the Ring of Honor on Jason's site. (Sigh...business as usual.) So, we still don't know if the Ring of Honor involves a number retirement, and it appears that Jason is not in the UA Sports Hall of Fame...at least he's not listed under the "T's". With Bowden ushering in an exciting new era of Zips football, it would be nice to have all of our grads with NFL ties on-hand for some type of recognition...Taylor, Frye, Smith, Blackburn, Hixon...others? There are a lot of "fringe" fans who may jump on the bandwagon and have no idea that Akron has produced such outstanding talent in the past decade. Use your assets, Zipster. No way it sells out. I'll be happy if there are 15K actual people in the stadium.
