lumberjack
Even on a "team," everyone plays a role. I think Harney and Q definitely have the role of "scorer" for this squad, and they're brought in to inject some offense from the bench. Isolating Q, for example, turned the game around and led to a win for the team, IMO... I think we got lucky. By the way Q should be starting in my opinion
lumberjack
The way I see it, the Zips currently have 9 players who've demonstrated enough all-around ability to merit averaging 20 or more minutes per game: Zeke, Rico, the Serb, Nitro, Q, Walsh, Gilliam, Tree and Harney. As the only true center and only true PG on the team, I'd expect to see Zeke and Rico play closer to 30 minutes per game. I'd expect the other 7 to get varying PT depending on their growth in performance over the course of the season, their level of performance in any given game, the type of team the Zips are playing, and a number of other variables. There's still a lot of growth potential left in this group, as individuals and as a team performing together. It may take the whole regular season for everyone to mesh into a smooth-running team where everyone has a clear role based on their individual strengths and weaknesses. Winning their first conference road game against a team like Miami whose playing style under Charlie Coles always causes problems, and making it the first game of the season they've won after trailing at the half, is a good sign of progress for the Zips. Ok you made a good point...I respect mid west basketball even though I'm not from there. And I agree with the proven players you mentioned 100%
Zipmeister
Miami has a deadly combination going for them this season. They play ugly and they are not very good.
Captain Kangaroo
My hopes for another quality Bracket Buster opponent are rising in direct proportion to Harney's minutes. Harney's minutes go up...Bracket Buster Opponent Index is up.
Zip Watcher
There was an Andy Katz article about Bracket Buster jostling, and he kindof had UA as one of the top 3 road teams, likely to get a decent matchup. Not really specific .. but thinks maybe the Zips @ Iona?
