Again I ask - How do we have 21 guys on this list with 13 Scholarships?

Not sure where the 13 came from since it seems 1/2 of last years class never made it.

The number of schollies doesn't matter in a given year. Look at the sec schools, many of them sign over 30 every year. LOL

You need to be at 85 by next summer. That is what matters.

I'm starting to guess the old Sherlock Holmes answer - the number never was 13.

Several on here tried to verify it with no luck. That along with shuffling in and out

of the roster, especially with players that signed last year and never made the roster

may explain it.

I can only know for certain a few of the recruits as being on scholarship. Some that we have listed might be coming as walk-ons, others as greyshirts (the only known greyshirt is Anthony Lauro, but there are likely others).

I believe that JUCO DB Donte Williams counts toward last year's recruiting class, since he officially signed a LOI as part of the JUCO early signing period. I could be misinterpreting how that works, though.

George reported earlier this week in his mail bag ..."I was told with someone with knowledge of the situation that the Zips have 15 scholarships for this recruiting season. I do know that they redshirted a lot of talent from last year. I also know that the number may be in flux. Throughout the season I heard as few as 13 scholarships were available and 15 is the high watermark." Like BuckZip said, 85 by the summer is the important number, TB told me the same last year.

Looks like some updates on Scouts including a new one - Mikee Hayes

http://akron.scout.com/a.z?s=333&p=8&a...amp;nid=6770627

Also OLB Jon Shelby - JUCO

It appears that Jon Shelby was a Kansas verbal, recruited by none other than Rob Ianello.

Also offered by UMass, Temple, Rutgers & Syracuse.

Signed his LOI with Kansas then left the team AFTER playing at Nassau. Does this mean he has to sit out a year?

That's what I am wondering. 2 years of eligibility were used at Nassau. If he has to sit a year, that would make him a one & done for 2014.

His eligibility may hinge on whether or not the NCAA grants him a waiver based on a legitimate personal reason for leaving Kansas?

He played two years at Nassau, but left after the fall semester to enroll at Kansas. He only spent the spring semester at Kansas. So that's two years of eligibility gone. Since he signed a LOI with Kansas, I'm pretty sure he has to sit out a year. That's three years. The NCAA gives you five years to play four. So he should have two years after he sits out.

I think me and Keener are wondering if the preseason he was apparently on the team for KU will count as a year of his eligibility. Would spring, summer, and even the beginning of fall semester count as a year?

As a JUCO, he signed mid-season. It doesn't count as a whole other year of eligibility, but rather a mid-year transfer. It does mean he has to sit out.
