Dr Z
Funny that Steve French complained about the fans before the game....then felt compelled to berate the fans again after the game. That pisses me off. Because the only place fans talk about the Zips is here. And it has been RIDICULOUSLY positive all season.French: "Hey Keith, how does it feel to have fans complain after the Oral Roberts loss?".....Let's all put on our hair shirts and repent for saying Zeke should have had more touches in the Oral Roberts game. The audacity. KD made a funny comment on his show a few Mondays ago about Steve being...I can't remember the word or phrase KD used, I'll say "negative" but I don't think that's right. He followed up by saying something like "that's why we have you Joe to even it out." I thought it was a funny crack on both of them. Two birds with one stone. When KD leaves Akron, I'll always remember him for his honest interviews. He is the easiest sports interview to get info from, and the Akron media hardly takes advantage. I'll have to get one of them hair shirts, I guess it's different than my uncle's pool sweater?

K92
I shall not don thy hair shirt. Living through 2 years of Ianello was penance enough for this Zips fan.
gozips19
Funny that Steve French complained about the fans before the game....then felt compelled to berate the fans again after the game. That pisses me off. Because the only place fans talk about the Zips is here. And it has been RIDICULOUSLY positive all season. French: "Hey Keith, how does it feel to have fans complain after the Oral Roberts loss?" French: "Well Kieth, the fans really don't appreciate how difficult it is to achieve 20 wins do they?" French: "How difficult is it on the players when fans turn on them after a loss?" I HATE that. We're drawing more fans than ever this season. Filled two buses to West Virginia. The basketball board has been buzzing all season long, with the RAREST of complaints about anything. 4,000+ fans are filing into the JAR on a regular basis, and French is baiting KD to complain about them. Let's all put on our hair shirts and repent for saying Zeke should have had more touches in the Oral Roberts game. The audacity. +100 Don't know what's up with Frenchy this year. Had the chance to make the game. Will just add a few things. Rico looked a little dead legged (Stealing this phrase from KD ). Shows good spurts but really tried to rest on D. This showed up time and time again on pick and rolls. He was too slow on his switch offs. In another thread a poster asked if we clinch do we sit anyone? I wouldn't sit anyone but but I would sure cut some of Rico's minuets to ensure he's fresh for the tourney. Knock about 5 mins a game off plus a week off with a bye and he should be good to go. Leadership is starting to emerge from the youngsters. Saw a great example of this with Tree during the game. In the second half Gilliam was pulled after two blown assignments (1 on offense and 1 on D ). As he came to the bench KD let him have it and Chauncey gave it right back. Coach was not happy and motioned for him to move towards the end of the bench. Chauncey got something to drink and sat back down. He then started to talk back to KD. At this point Tree (Who was sitting next to him ) had heard enough. Tree lit him up to the point Chauncey started to shake his head in agreement and stopped talking. Tree has a great presence and his teammates always speak highly of him and Harney. Can't wait to see him and Nick mature over the next 3 years. Loved Zeke's intensity last night. The person next to me said Zeke looks pissed. I happily responded with I know! Looking forward to seeing how this all plays out. This team knows they have the chance to be special. Let's hope they can pull it off.

Dave in Green
In addition to hearing before the game that Tree was under the weather, I've since heard that Zeke and Gilliam were also not 100%. I had noticed during the game that Zeke looked pretty winded, especially in the second half when after being fouled he was squatting on his haunches at the free throw line waiting for the ref to throw him the ball. Rico's game also looked a little off, especially on defense. I haven't heard anything about him being ill. But it's possible that all the players were exposed to a virus and many were suffering at least mild symptoms. If true, then the Zips' performance was more impressive than I first thought. I've heard KD, French and Dunn all mention the back injury AA first (apparently) suffered against Miami. It seems to be something he can play through, although it flairs up at times. That's why I agree 100% with the comment from gozips19 regarding possibly watching his minutes over the remainder of the regular season.
