fknbuflobo
I cannot open your link from work, Mike. Where is David Murrow going? He is a fine player; I watched him play several times during his high school career. And I always pull for the local talent. However, the arrival of Robbie Derschang pretty much sealed Murrow’s fate. Does anyone else fully expect Derschang to start, as do I? Pretty crowded out there in MF (as usual)!!!!
bisbee
What does the comment looking "more like a football than a futbol team" mean?
Zip_ME87
I didn't open the link yet, but it's probably been 1.5 - 2 months ago now that I noticed on David's twitter account that he was visiting Cincinnati...indicating that he was looking to transfer. I wish him the best. edit: And now that I have opened the link...you confirmed he is going to UC. 2nd edit: I did read on Murrow's twitter account, before Robbie Derschang's transfer to Akron was announced, that David was visiting UC. So, I'm not sure that Derschang's transfer had anything to do with David's decision.
Zipmeister
Speaking of football, if iCoach was still here I'll bet he would have convinced this kid to stay and play cornerback for us.
RootforRoo44
What does the comment looking "more like a football than a futbol team" mean? American football rosters are huge...have you taken a look at our roster on gozips.com? It's like an army.

yazan07
The roster isn't abnormally large. In fact, seven players (three outgoing seniors, three outgoing transfers, and Darren) have been removed, and six players (incoming freshmen) have been added, so actually it's smaller than it was a few weeks ago, and it's not really that big for a soccer roster, pretty typical. The weird thing is that out SIX goalkeepers outnumber our forwards and match our defenders. I don't expect to see six GKs come this fall. I've heard Poni is graduating and doesn't plan on continuing with the team, and I have to imagine at least one of the younger guys leaves. There just isn't room for them. UC is a great school with a fine coach/program. I mean that Derschang is likely going to take someone's time in MF. We are left to speculate who will be affected most. Had he remained, Murrow would have been further buried on the depth chart. In my estimation, Derschang is simply too good to sit. He will be a Junior, right? Why would he transfer to Akron to sit the bench? There just seems to be an over abundance of midfielders, ... again.

fknbuflobo
Good article, Mike. Thanks. Best of luck to Mr. Murrow! We will surely cross paths again. Bearcats are on the 2012 schedule again, right?
Jalapeño Zippy
I don't know if the title of the article is appropriate, not to critique, I enjoy all that is written regarding the Zips; especially the inner workings of Zips Athletics. I just wonder if there is a more positive way to phrase it. The title makes it seem like the program is in trouble because of all the defections. We all know its not, but think from an outsider's perspective. Sounds discouraging. How about: Freshman reserve, Murrow, seeks new opportunity Love the article, I personally always try to stay away from using negative terms when writing. Thanks for sharing Mike! Great read. Thanks for the advice, I didn't even realize I did that but then again it does feel like a lot of people are leaving. It also grabs more hits when phrased that way! Dave in Green
..... It also grabs more hits when phrased that way! You've discovered the secret of tabloid news -- the more bizarre or negative, the better it sells. One glance at the screaming headlines in the tabloids at the local supermarket reveals the formula: Rosie O'Donnell Gives Birth to Two-Headed Dog After Secret Encounter with Donald Trump! Journalism has always been conflicted between the extremes of sensationalism, which sells to the masses, and responsibile reporting, which builds credibility among a smaller audience of those genuinely seeking the facts.
