2012 Miami RB hoping to land at Akron

The first question is:

Did we sign him?

I don't know if he can be a successful D1 running back at his size (which may have more to do with his lack of offers than his grades) but I think at the very least we are looking at an awesome return man and third down back who can be a threat to go all the way any time.

Actually, I would like to get that quarterback. He looks like he can really run an offense!

And of course Sproles is absolutely exceptional. The other guy in the NFL- time will tell. Most guys that size are not feature running backs in D1, to say nothing of the NFL. They have to be really special to make up for the small stature - and yes I know Joe Morris was the little man and was exceptional.

Meanwhile the bigger question is did we sign him. Because if not, who cares what he does?

Yes we did according to this site that aided in his recruitment...

This guy claims to be a college grad? Spell check is your friend. He could not sell me a burger at Mickey D's:

About Us:

Xavier Leonard bring over 25 years of experience on and off the field. However, 14 years as a Miami Dade County High School coach along with 4 years of college coaching Xavier has gained a wealth of respect and college coaches contacts. Throughtout his coaching career Xavier has placed kids in schools from D1 to junior college. Xavier started his career at North Miami Beach H.S.in 1991, from their he landed a scholarship to play football at North Dakota State College of Science. After his second year of participating at the junior college level Xavier found himself reaching another milestone in life which was earning a scholarship from Central Okalohoma University in 1994. Then, he received degree in Phsycial Education in 1997 and later a masters degree that helped him utilize his skills right away. Xavier started his coaching career at Archbishop Curley High School in Miami, FL where he was the Assistant Head Football Coach and CO- Defensive Coordinator from 1997-2007 and during that same time Xavier coached Girls Basketball, Softball,Track and Soccer . From there Xavier worked at Spirit of Christ High School where he coached all sports. In 2008, Xavier landed a job at Highland Community College in Highland, Kansas. Where he coached football from 2008-2012 in that time period Xavier was the Top recruiter in the junior college system. Gaining the contacts needed to place kids in College.

I hope the kid is good but this web site is just plain embarrassing. He claims to have a Masters Degree! How about a proof reader?

I hate when people think cuz a kid is small hes not capable to play D1 ball.
As I stated above Chris Rainey had a pretty successful career at Florida and Sproles at Kansas State. They are pretty much the same size.

With the type of offense that the Zips will be running, it might just be beneficial.

If Mr. Lawrence pans out, what are we going to call him? Copycat and call him the dream? The way this board loves to nickname everybody and everything, I am sure we will come up with something. :)

If Nicely woulda panned out, I was going to have an Akron jersey made with green instead of blue with St. Patrick 7 on the back. Never got the opportunity.

My "Moore is Less" jersey also never made it to the silk-screener.

 Or “Thrown – Danger”

Speaking of ex-QBs, I was thinking the other day how if Winters had accepted the offer (don’t anyone throw a conniption…..I was a vocal supporter of Paul, but I don’t think we could have possibly ended up with a better coach than Terry Bowden), PN7 could very well have played for him at Akron. As it turns out, he’ll be playing AGAINST him when Lake Erie visits Wayne St in the opener for both teams.

Same here. I was REALLY bummed when Winters didn't take the job but very optimistic with our future right now. Here's to hoping both coaches continue their winning ways.
