If you're the A.D., how do you make the Zips Basketball gameday experience better?

Better student seating & student involvement

Turn off the house lights during the game....only light the floor during the game. Make the seating area minimally lighted.

Agree with both of your suggestions. With the lighting, though, IIRC it's been explained that the lights aren't able to function that manner. I wonder how much it would cost to improve?

Upgrade food and food service. What we have now is a big time disappointment.

Redesign the ticketing process in a way that the front entrance isn't a stupid clogged mess.

Partner with local business for pre/post game food and drink specials.

Invite EVERY media outlet in Northeast Ohio to have a presence within the JAR.

"Moments in Akron Sports History" on the jumbotron.

Hire a professional PA announcer.

Improve sound quality/speakers.

HD cameras for in-game video highlights.

Cool prizes for ticketholders.

DJ to play new, current music, who can sync up with cheerleaders/band/dance team.

Quit. Then let an AD with a clue step in and improve things.

A guy like Terry Bowden arrives on campus, surveys the situation and knows what to do to improve things.

Dambrot took over for Hipsher, surveyed the situation, and knew what to do to improve it.

Caleb Porter stepped into a good situation, and knew what to do to make it even better.

Our AD stepped on to campus... and had no clue what to do. I have no faith he can improve anything.

Here's what Zips basketball needs to do - Win games, retain Dambrot, and pray that Tressel can expedite a new arena. 3,800 is the best they'll ever average at the JAR.

Free tickets to local youth and high school basketball league teams for season opener to fill up the JAR

Tailgate prior to season opener with some chili, hot dogs and appropriate beverages and one or two Saturday conference games.....AD department could line up some restaurants for a chili cookoff with winner getting some free pub in gameday programs - UA students eat free with ID or game ticket

It all starts with a new big time arena...it's as simple as that. Not some rinky dink BGSU Staph Center that seats 500 people

Agree 1,000 percent. I think the idea of thread is more about what can be done right now.

Invite the entire band for all MAC games and the "big" OC ones.

At last years game at OU the had almost the entire 110 at the game directly across from the Zip bench. It was deafening and entertaining. I don't know if it had a tangible effort on the result but it definitely didn't hurt OU any. Some bobcat fans said they do some "extra" when the Zips come to town. Let's return the favor.
