MBB 2012-2013 Conference Schedule

Maybe I missed a previous discussion on this, but the schedule appears all jumbled up this year. It appears that we open MAC play with three games against the West, then start flip-flopping between the West and East teams until the final 5 games. Anyone know what the reasoning was for the change?

I think they're trying to eliminate divisions in basketball (there's really no need for them).

I like it. Playing six MAC West teams in a row is awful to watch, and I'm sure the West teams don't look forward to running a gauntlet in the middle of the season, either.

Full schedule up on Gozips without gametimes. http://www.gozips.com/sports/mbkb/2012-13/schedule

Do we really need to play Tiffin, Malone and John Carroll all in the same season? I realize two of the games are exhibitions.

Have some decent out of conference opponents coming to the JAR in Princeton, Cleveland State, and Middle Tennessee.

Tiffin and Malone are exhibition games. John Carroll is a regular season game however.

More early season games, including two exhibitions against lower division opponents, will provide good practice for the Zips going into the PR tournament, where they will face some of their toughest opponents of the season. These early games will be even more critical if Pat Forsythe's hardship waiver request is approved by the NCAA and he gets to play this season. Having a chance to become familiar with the Zips playing style in four games prior to facing Oklahoma State increases the likelihood that Forsythe might make meaningful contributions that would increase the chances of the Zips to pull some upsets in PR.

Zips have to hope that they can do some damage in San Juan, because this is FAR from a schedule that is built for getting at-large consideration. Very disappointing given the level of talent we have coming back this year. While MTSU, Creighton, CSU and Princeton are all nice solid mid-major programs, even if you win all 4 of those it won't be enough to get you there. John Carroll as a regular season game is just absolutely unacceptable. Outside of San Juan this schedule does absolutely nothing to challenge this years edition of the Zips. It will take minimum 28 wins during the regular season and a heck of a good bracket buster matchup for that schedule to even sniff a hint of bubble consideration.

Two things holding this program back from gaining more of a fanbase in NEOhio:

1) The JAR

2) Going into every season treating it like the only chance you have at the dance is 4 days at the Q in March. If KD doesn't believe the regular season matters, why should I?

You like seeing the MAC West? Talk about killing your RPI :mad_flame:

So what's the deal with Playing Can't State twice right before the tournament? Is that a typo?

Not quite a typo, from what I understand it's an undetermined date (waiting on tv coverage perhaps?) My understanding is that the game will be either on Friday or Saturday.
