had to watch on my computer....and missed the start of the game

who was the 2nd forward tonight...

I know Breines started as forward...

Scott C. and Will Trapp were obviously the 2 center mid fielders...

Eric Stevenson, Dillon Serna and Aodhan were the others up front...which were the 2 wide mid fielders and which one was the forward...

strong game for Reinaldo

Fives--Barson--Gallego---Yedlin

Koroma for Brenes at the hour mark. No other subs.

The Zips passed that one with "flying colors"; too bad the fans didn't.

Where is everyone? Attendance: 2,536. Are you kidding? The Zips are #7 in the NSCAA poll (the one that counts); we should have 4000+ a game. Is there any other Akron sports team that has ever been ranked in the top 10? This team has more than a legitimate chance of getting to Alabama in December. We have 4 outstanding seniors, 3 of whom played in our National Championship winning game. They deserve massive support in their final season as do all of our returning players and outstanding freshman.

Lately when I attend games, it becomes so depressing watching the hill be near empty. Last nights game was even missing the drums. We have at least 4 more home games and we need to show the NCAA that we deserve home tournament games and we in Akron one day want an MLS team closer than Columbus.

I agree, I was a little disappointed in Saturday evenings crowd. Only 4 more regular season home matches left in the season. No reason we shouldn't see a larger support to finish out October.

Sad, but maybe expected since the excitement of having #1 teams, unbeaten teams, and national champions is starting to wear off. Lets face it. It's college soccer. It takes more than just having a good team to get enough area residents and students on the bandwagon to produce the kind of numbers we are hoping to see right now. The surprising thing about the low turnout is that it followed a football game. Didn't some of those folks stick around?

I'm hoping that some of those folks are just waiting for us to make a climb back near the top of the rankings to get on the wagon again.

Not having the drums was a positive thing. Those things are terribly annoying and dominate the atmosphere, keeping many students out of the flow of the game.

They need to learn to accent the chants and songs, not dominate and overcome them.

If this is true, then we (UA fans) are very sad. How can we expect to have NCAA Championship winning teams if we, the students/alumni/fans, aren't willing to get off our @sses and support our teams. This is sad not just for Men's Soccer but football and basketball as well. I can't believe that folks can't show up on a beautiful Saturday like September 29th and fill the hills inside Infocision and First Energy Stadiums.

As far as Men's Soccer, I hope folks aren't using Caleb's impending departure as an excuse. My reaction to that is to attend every game, home and away, this season. I know we have an awesome team that should be supported like there is no tomorrow as none of us know what next year will bring.

GO ZIPS!

Note in that video how Porter emphatically claims that this current team is championship caliber.

I still believe Zips will take the hardware in Birmingham AL.

anyone happen to catch the fact that we won 4-0

My thoughts exactly...I'm obviously removed from the campus moreso than most of you but 2,600 people to see them play Buffalo AFTER a football game? It's not great but it's certainly not horrible...

To be fair, the stadium seating capacity is probably less than 2,000. Our stadium does not meet the expectations of casual fans.

Casual fans are usually not going to be season ticket holders. The main grandstand is season tickets only leaving the casual fans with limited access to the general admission areas or the crap reserved section behind the west goal.

I noticed a lot of casual fans having trouble finding seating last year during the games we had over 4,000 people. A lot of people were meeting up with people and couldn't sit next to each other because of the limited seating in the area.

The inconveniences the casual fans experience during those big games reduces the odds that they'll be back for another game.

The main grandstand desperately needs expanded to meet the needs of the casual fans. I believe we've already talked about this stuff in the stadium expansion thread.

Or we could just re-open the west stands to GA seating again. Problem solved.

those seats suck and do not improve the experience casual fans should receive. We have a team that dominates, the end sections only get action during one half of the game.

This would not be expensive at all and needs to happen:

I agree it's not horrible, but it should be better. You know me...I love this team. We won 4 - 0, and I congratulated the players afterward. I just want to see more well-deserved support for them. The last 2 Marches to the Match were NOT. There were only a handful of dedicated students/fans there. Our team deserves much better.

We'll have to see how it plays out. But, I have always believed that there were a fair number of bandwagoners that showed up just because they wanted be a part of an Akron Zips team that was tops in the nation, and not because they had a great interest in supporting a college soccer program.

With a 60% chance of rain and a high of 50 degrees at kickoff tomorrow. I'm not going expect any bandwagoners against Florida Atlantic.

.........if they haven't, for the most part, started to disappear already.

It's time for another long home winning streak to talk about.

Apathy reins supreme at UA; I don't get it.

Exceptional soccer team - apathic student support.

Excellent mens basketball team - apathic student support.

Entertaining and fun events to attend - where's the students? I've asked the same thing on the basketball board and typically hear the students have to work or the facility stinks. Too bad for Akron, my college experience was just the opposite. Games were packed with students and were a fantastic place to meet, laugh and blow off some tension from school and life in general.

The thing is, sometimes shit facilities (and make no mistake, the JAR is shit) can be awesome partially and precisely because they are shit

Like, a packed JAR is awesome in the same way Highbury was awesome

I never really went to enough basketball games, though, so I can't really pretend to complain

Anyway, won't make the game tonight - busy with lawl school stuff today and the rest of this weekend. Here's hoping the steam is dece.
