Lets try looking at the problem from a different perspective. Instead of complaining about support, what are ways to fix the problem?

Invite someone new to every home match. You are permitted to invite more than one new person. 2 or 3 would be acceptable.

Invite them out to tailgate before the soccer match. Offer free food and alcoholic beverages. Non-alcoholic beverages are permitted with a signed permission slip.

Don't know where to tailgate, Lot 9. Look for the flags and Akron Zip canopy behind the football scoreboard. Don't be shy. Good people old and young. A grill that is accessible for everyone to use.

Didn't know if anyone has kept up on this, Towson and Richmond have recently dumped their men's soccer programs.

Recommendation to drop men's soccer called 'disgraceful'

All the reasons previously cited are valid, but the primary reasons for attendance dwindling are two:

1)The general public has grown wise to the fact that only the side bleacher seats are worth the commitment to attend. At least some bleachers need to remain open to General Admission (preferably some additional side bleachers). Without that, the customer base cannot flourish. The casual fan is ignored. I am amazed that an institution of supposed higher education could make such a bloody stupid Marketing decision. How much are they really saving/generating by making the end-zone bleachers reserved seating?

2)Prohibiting exit during a match really cramps the style of students. Actual attendance during the previous 2 seasons was always more than officially announced due to the grazers floating through First Energy. That is now impossible. Kids do not like to be caged in on a weekend night. How much is the additional concessions revenue anyhow. Alcohol! Think about it.

Raise ticket prices 3% across the board. Who cares!?!?!? Sports Marketing Department should concentrate on the quality of the experience they are selling.

This. College kids these days LOVE their party time. Unless the game itself is a party, the casual fans won't show up. Same reason I wasn't surprised about the Buffalo turnout, especially after a football game.

None of this explains why the people in the main bleachers aren't even showing up. And those no-shows are counted in attendance because they are season tickets, so you can only imaging how bad it is right now.

We're not a #1 team right now.

We're not on an incredible home winning streak.

We're not in the middle of an unbeaten season.

It takes some incredibly exciting things going on to sell college soccer to people who otherwise don't normally care about soccer.
