Zipsrifle
Yep! At some point losing close games drains the players and coaches. You start to wait for something bad to happen instead of making something good happen. The Defense better step it up this week! Many of these players have been in a losing culture for their whole careers. TB gave them a breath of new life, but I fear if we don't win another game here against an FBS opponent soon, we will fall back to where we were. The sooner we reach win #2, the better! Agreed - that the sooner we get #2 the better... but I honestly do not see one ounce, one iota, one hint of quit in any of these players. What I also don't see -- which is probably even more amazing -- is no finger pointing. This is truly a "team" - and they not only believe in themselves and the coaches - but I hear they genuinely care for each other. This will be a team that has reunions, comes back to support the program, stays in touch.. etc.. This is a special bunch, and will still be - even if they didn't win another game (which will obviously NOT be the case). There is just no way that a team this dedicated and hungry - coupled with coaches that have a combined 150+ years of experience - don't win several of our last 7 games. johnnyzip84
Line is down to 3.5. Interestingly, even though BGSU has a much better defense (ranked #38 nationally) than Miami, the O/U (64.5) is higher than for last week's game. Justifiably, people are now associating the Zips with a high scoring game, regardless of the opponent. I think the Zips will improve just enough to win: UA 38 BGSU 35 Our Stein comes through! Our Stein is on FIRE! He just needed 80,000 screaming SEC fans to get his confidence... (crazy!).. Practice was good today from what I heard -- the offense is really clicking more and more every week. I fully expect to see a much improved defense on Saturday as well. I'd bet my house that Coach Amato hasn't slept all week.

I too have high hopes for this team. Think we are gonna hit our stride at some point this season and put together a bit of a winning streak. I really thought it was last week, lets hope it is this week.
Lee Adams
BGSU is averaging ~12 points a game against D-IA opponents this season, so I'm not sure where you're getting this vaunted offense talk. Didn't see the word 'vaunted' in my post. Musta missed that. Point was/is they have a good QB. They also have something of a running game which Miami didn't(oh,except for Dysert). Ya don't have to score 40 if your D can help control the game and your offense can run the ball effectively. Here's hoping the Zips have figured out something on their D side. As long as the Zips employ a QB spy from now on, I think they'll be fine on defense.
NewZipsFan
BG's D-Line is the strength of their team. I like our O-line vs their D-line any day. Bice, Switzer, Straight, Pughsley, Rizzo... those are some of the toughest, hardest working and HUNGRY players you'll find anywhere. Can't wait for the game to kickoff! bUAkronG
I know the game isn't played on paper, but on paper BG doesn't look all that impressive. Schilz had a great year last year. 28 touchdowns to 13 picks. However this year he has struggled(stat wise, I haven't caught any of their games), throwing just 3 touchdowns to 4 INTs. 2 of his 3 touchdowns came in their win over FCS opponent Rhode Island last week. On the road, Schilz is only completing 51.8% of his passes with no TDs and 3 picks. At home, Williams is completing 70% of his passes for 9 touchdowns and 3 picks. Also, their rushing attack isn't all that spectacular either. Their leading rusher averages 5.5 ypc with 377 rushing yards. Chisolm averages 5.5 ypc with 398 yards. The difference comes in TDs, where Samuel has 7 TDs(3 of which he scored last weekend) compared to Chisolm's 2, which he scored last weekend against Miami. As a team BG averages 4.5 ypc for a total of 665 yards. UA averages 4.3 for a total of 653 yards. Going by just stats alone, I'll take our offense over theirs any day of the week. Defensively there may be some differences. Their pass defense is 41st in the country, only allowing 208 yards a game, and their rush defense is 52 only allowing 139 yards a game. Respectively, ours allows 279 and 193 yards a game. Overall offensively we put up 492 yards of offense to their 371 yards(25th and 89th nationally). Overall defensively we allow 473 yards to their 348(105th to 38th). Statistically, this should be a good game. Our high powered offense versus their well-rounded defense. Their average offense against our poor defense. I dunno, but I think we might hit the over again. I'm going with a Zips victory, 42-38. K92
The thing that concerns me most about BG is Boo Boo. We can't afford to let him make any game changing returns. Contain him and the Zips are gonna roll, baby!!

PB1719
I'm bringing my entire family to the game tomorrow, what's the tailgating situation like this year? I'm trying to turn my kids intrests towards UA athletics. I've been to games as a college student, and with my wife, but where is the stuff geared towards the younger ones? (8, 12, 15 and 18) They set up a small 'Roo-fest' between the fieldhouse and north end zone, but with the weather forecast so bad tomorrow, there probably won't be much. There's a tent to get a little bit of Zips swag (my younger ones LOVE this), but your teens/pre-teens will probably get bored over there pretty quickly. If any of your kids have musical interests, the band does a pre-game performance over at Coleman commons, and if the lot 9 tailgate isn't seeming your style, my teens like walking through the student center and bookstore.
